A neat little town at the foot of the Rhodopes. A beautiful center with a fountain. There are many Islamic people (>35%) but they seem to live in peace and harmony with the Christians there. Totally approve this!

Peshtera is a relatively small city with some interesting places to visit, and also with large chemical industries and their ugly towers looming up against the sky. The highlights are:
1. The museum "Cars of socialism" which include 24 vintage cars (Lada, Moskvitch, Škoda, Zastava, Volga, etc.) and innumerable other vintage items from the communist period.
2. The cave "Snezhanka", 6 km out of the town, is a short but interesting cave. I guess it was much more beautiful before being found though.
3. The fortress "Peristera".
4. The second oldest clock tower in Bulgaria.
As everywhere in Bulgaria, piles of plastic trash are choking roads, forests and rivers and everywhere man meets nature.
