The host met us and checked us in. Did an introductory tour and sorted out glitches with the cable TV. There was a generous supply of complimentary drinks and nibbles in the fridge. The apartment is very well equipped: air-conditioning, under-floor heating, luxuriously equipped bathroom. Excellent bed and mattress. Comfortable sofa. Quiet location. Secure entry and panoramic glass lift. There is a corner shop on the ground floor.

The main reason to visit is to see the absolutely...
The main reason to visit is to see the absolutely spectacular Tracian gold treasure when it is exhibited in the vault of the local history museum (once a year for a month, usually September - October). For those who know more of the turbulent Bulgarian history there is a wealth of other museums and historical places of interest too. A lot of the restaurants are of above-average quality too. We tried The Old House and Perfecto. Both were excellent with very attentive service. The Old Miners' Club Hotel in the town centre has a fine lobby bar too.
