An extremely kind and helpful host! We arrived at 10 PM, but he was waiting for us and he even appeared at the main entrance before I had taken my mobile to call him!

We were in Kalofer during the regional rose festival. Lots of festivities and people dancing in traditional dress. The museum of bobbin lace was quite interesting. The old school house has also been turned into a museum. Lovely revival style architecture.

I think tourists outside of Bulgaria should come prepared with all the information they need about the hikings and siteseeing in Kalofer. We had a bit of trouble managing as we relied on local tourist information center but could'nt find it.
Local people were extremely nice, but some didn't speak English.
The Balkan park is stunning but roads are rough if you're not in a high 4×4, and trails are lacking signs in English.

Kalofer has a very good location and interesting history.
Kalofer has a very good location and interesting history. It is situated in Stara Planina mountains, and there are many hiking trails to choose from. Kalofer is very close to the Central Balkan National Park - one of the most beautiful nature parks in Bulgaria.

My best tips is DON'T TRUST the bus timetable located in the main square, or you'll have to wait hours. The town is small, quiet and pleasant and is a starting point for hikes to Rai Hut (Хижа Рай), Botev Peak (Ботев връх, 2376m) and a nice eco-trail along the White River. The four restaurants I tried were all excellent and cheap. As in every place I have seen in Bulgaria so far, all the roads just outside the town, as well as the river bed, are an endless sea of plastic trash. The railway station is 2km out of town, they say there are buses connecting the town center and the train station but I have never seen any, especially at the times written on the timetable.
Excellent. Our goal was to reach Botev peak (2376 m) - the third peak in Bulgaria and this is the best place to start early in the morning to reach the top (we spent one night in Paradise Hut) and finish and rest in the hotel. We spent two nights with the kids in this place and it was great! Individual approach, many compliments, everything is new! We liked it very much!
You will experience a stay in an authentic Bulgarian house that is very close to the centre of Kalofer. The rooms are specious, clean and comfortable. There is a very neat and cozy shared kitchen you can use to make coffee and dine. The host is very kind and helpful.
Beautiful, newly built large home keeping the Bulgarian Renaissance architectural spirit. Gorgeous, cozy, spacious, sun-lit rooms with comfortable beds, balcony, great WiFi and exceptionally clean bathroom. The community kitchen was also beautiful and comfortable.
The hotel is located in the middle of nature, outside the town. Has inner garden and outdoor terrace area, we had a great grill self-prepared dinner (meat and vegetables provided by the hotel). Small nice hotel.
It is good to enjoy a calm local town in the center of Bulgaria. The owner is very kind. They have two cute cats in the garden. The room is clean and tidy.
