Hotel Malon, hotel in Leuven

This historic townhouse, opposite Leuven Railway Station, offers modern Boutique-style rooms with cable TV, buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi. Hotel Malon is 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre.

Great central location. Some people say that it's noisy, but I really had no trouble sleeping, even on the weekend (I stayed on first floor). I'm definitely not a light sleeper though. Breakfast had variety - eggs, bacon, yoghurt, excellent pastries. In my opinion, the value for money was good, some of my colleagues stayed in more expensive hotels in the area, which had smaller rooms and worse location.

This city was a real surprise!

This city was a real surprise! Had a fabulous vibe, plenty and variety of cafe/restaurants, good retail shops and amazing historic buildings. Made better because the city center is compact and easy to get around without the usual crowded tourist hot spots you find in other cities. The city transport is convenient, and the railway station is also central and an easy and affordable option to venture into Brussels or airport (both 20mins away) or beyond. Unofficially Leuven claims to be the beer capital of Belgium - I agree the variety is vast, oh it is also home for Stella and tours are available.

Leuven is a hidden jewel to visit if you like great architecture, food choice and a city that you can mooch around and watch daily life. Add it on to a trip to Ghent or Bruges. Brussels by comparison is noisy, dirty and I think over rated.

Leuven was a wonderful little university town! Great downtown and wonderful history to see. There was plently of great places to eat and even better places to try all the Belgian beer that you could want to drink. The walk around the town and university was beautiful and very enjoyable.

Leuven is a great city with a lot of late Gothic...

Leuven is a great city with a lot of late Gothic architecture. You can see the entire city in a weekend. The top sights were the city hall and the Tafelrond with the Cathedral across from it. The Begijnhof was actually one of the most beautiful places to walk to and through. So peaceful and beautiful architecture. The Kruidtuin (botanical gardens) were a huge treat. Free entrance. Even in the winter it was fun to walk around. M Museum is not that interesting. The collection is very small. It took about 1 hour to see everything. Leuven is a university city but still has a lot of gastronomy. There are restaurants for every budget. I loved the La Cantina Mexican restaurant. Bar Louis was also awesome for drinks before dinner. The stores are all closed on Sunday so take that into account when you go. I would definitely go back again sometime. You can walk everywhere.

The staff was welcoming and nice. Everything was clean. The Ibis is right next to the train station and next to the center. The toilet and shower were separated which is more efficient if you are 3 like we were. It was quiet. You will receive a card per person, very convenient if you want to come back to the hostel during the night. There is also a 24/7 desk.

Beautiful nice room, excellent breakfast, always a big bottle with fresh water in the room. Belgium in general is very expensive, but this hotel has realy good prices for what you get!
