Very large and airy room, very clean, fairly recently renovated with a good new carpet, a large comfortable bed and acceptable if spartan sub-ikea furniture. It offered a wonderful view out on the vast beach. The hotel is right on the beach and but a short walk to the town centre. There is a coastal tramway stop right next to it allowing easy (if crowded) access to other parts of Ostend and all towns and beaches on Belgium's coast.
Reception staff were friendly and polite and the restaurant is quite all right for what it is, a no frills Belgian brasserie in a very nice setting, including outdoor sitting on the beach promenade. There is also abundant and cheap parking and a large gym, incongruously adjacent and wide open to the 1st floor landing, which is probably why nobody seemed to be using it.
If one accepts how odd and quirky it all is and if the weather is nice, then this is really the only hotel worth staying in in Ostend, even if the other local establishments are far more mainstream.
