It's a small place so people might not want to spend a long time, but if I return I will stay longer. (I spent two nights this time.) The town is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and there are great hiking paths. The Suleimanije mosque (the 'colourful mosque') is one of the most beautiful I've seen. The place is relaxed and friendly. It didn't suffer so much in the war/ genocide, and as a result more of the historic buildings are intact. I ate great trout down by the Plava Voda, plus excellent Palestinian food at McGrill Restaurant. Not too many tourists here, and cheaper prices than elsewhere.

Travnik is a lovely small medieval Bosnian town located in the central Bosnia. A must to see is the birth house/museum of a literature Nobel prize winner Ivo Andric as well as the following: Blue Water (Plava voda), old fortress dating from the 16th century and Ornamented Mosque (Šarena džamija). If you are coming from Sarajevo, Travnik is on your way to the city of Jajce with its charming waterfalls and Plivsko jezero.

I came to Travnik mostly for the trek Galica-Devečani-Paljenik and I absolutely don't regret it, beautiful landscapes around, nice views 😎. The town itself is charming, good local food and hidden cafes by the river...

I expected a lot, so was a bit disappointed. If I was booking again, I would rather consider staying in Jajce. Travnik is a little bit a forgotten place. Since it was summer, the place came to live during late evening when everybody was strolling along "corso", however old town and everything but the main street were eerily quiet (during the day it all seemed like a ghost town too).
