It was perfect for a little family getaway. Excellent location, beautiful surroundings and well set up for young kids. Our boys loved the animals and playing in the pool especially. It was nice and relaxing for the adults too. I loved that our bed was super comfortable as well! Check in / out process was really straight forward too.

It was Boxing Day so was nice and quiet.

It was Boxing Day so was nice and quiet. We did lots of long walks and because it was a holiday we could walk on the road. The walk along the river was also very nice and as there weren't too many people, we were able to sit on a bench across the river by ourselves and listen to the birds. two days was perfect.

York is a small town 100 km from Perth.

York is a small town 100 km from Perth. Easy drive from Perth to York through Canola farm and native bush land, and National Parks. We did two walks through two different Nature reserves and Wando National Park. I could have spent a lot more time wandering around York. We also did the river walk in York central. and would like to have walked along the reserve near the golf course and Mount Brown, time didn't permit. Canola farms everywhere around York and are a pretty sight when the crop is in full flower. Three pubs to have a beer at and a few cafes for tea, cakes and lunch. We had breakfast at the Castle Hotel as they were the only ones open at 8am. York is very easy to get around, free parking everywhere. Easy access to the old buildings and the ladies at the Information Centre are always very helpful.

Small agricultural town, only an hour and fifteen minutes from Perth. Quaint old buildings from the late 1890's and early 1900's. Star gazing as light pollution is minimal. Lovely to walk around the old town and not feel rushed. Very quiet no loud music, pubs trucks or noisy street traffic. Lots of birds to keep you amused and plenty of short or long walks in the lightly treed bush land. Information Centre ladies give you good tips on things to have a look at. Motor car museum is a good starting point.

A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring.

A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring. Lots of historical buildings to see, lovely gardens and the river is flowing well. The York museum is well worth a visit. The Salvos have a great jumble sale, items are very cheap and good quality - worth the visit just for this! And you get free entertainment at the same time!

There are little shops and interesting places to visit in the town centre and its surrounds. I enjoyed my 2 days there. That was enough time for me. I suggest planning your day and looking at the opening hours of the places you want to visit as almost everything closes by 5pm. I suggest visiting the Old Flour Mill which has a cafe and an interesting collection of art and vintage items for sale. The old gaol is also worth a visit.

The setting is beautiful, although the gardens had suffered in the heat of summer but we could imagine how wonderful they would have been. The self catering chalet felt like home and was very comfotable. The owner, Joy, was very pleasant and informative. We wished we had stopped here on a previous visit to York.
