Stanley is a little gem in North West Tassie.
Stanley is a little gem in North West Tassie. It's my 3rd trip there and I would definitely go back. Such a picturesque little town. Beautiful natural surrounds, with the Tarkine wilderness, the local 'Nut' with it's sweeping views, Rocky Cape National Park, and the 'Edge of the World' at Arthur River a must do. Gorgeous fairy penguins abundant on the foreshore at night, and pademelons everywhere. Excellent bistro in town.

Highland House was a highlight- a must do. And of course the Nut. We did the Penguin Tour at the Nut. Couldn’t believe the madness of the recent council ruling for leash free beach for dogs. Heard that 20 penguins recently killed by a dog. Insane ruling. How can we make a protest. Carpark needs rezoning- to protect these penguins from being run over. Also the community / council need to encourage / pay supervisors. Tourists were taking flash photos and scaring the adults- who didn’t fed their chicks that night. Wicked ignorance.
The local general store and locals in general were friendly and very helpful. Loved the place.

The pub was at the base of the nut with an excellent view. The meal in the bistro was first class. It was only a short walk to anywhere in the town with lots of little shops full of interesting things.

One of the neatest, tidiest towns one could find anywhere.
One of the neatest, tidiest towns one could find anywhere. The township is very pretty, has just about all the necessities, but remains quiet and peaceful. A perfect place for a long weekend get away, or a longer stay if one wishes to visit other interesting places in the area.

we LOVED everything about this place. The location, the accommodation, the short drive into Stanley. It was the high point of a wonderful week in Tasmania.
We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back.
Location was great being so central to Stanley. We walked up to the Nut and did the circuit, really enjoyed the views and had dinner at the Stanley Hotel across the road.
Comfortable and clean accommodation!
The room was very large, clean and comfortable. The view to Stanley village and The Nut was excellent. Access to the Stanley Hotel and shops was easy with a car.
