The view from this hotel is absolutely stunning! Our room faced The Nut, giving us a perfect sunrise view every morning. 🌅 The room had everything we needed, and the bathtub was just amazing. 👍 This hotel made our trip to Tasmania’s best spot, Stanley, even more memorable. If you’re heading to Stanley, this is the place to stay!

The town of Stanley is quaint and lovely. The apartment was sparkling clean. The views were amazing. There are several decks and sliding glass doors to look out over the sea. Everything is within walking distance. We were able to walk to the sea to look for the penguins at night and see the wallabies on the streets after sunset. The hotel was enjoyable to sit and have a drink and converse with the people in the town.

Stanley has a uniqueness perhaps unmatched anywhere else in our beautiful country and may perhaps be similar to wonderful little villages in the south east of England. Highly recommended …… a delightful part of our state.

Stanley is a unique location with a rich history. Staying at the Ship Inn helped us to appreciate this location and its history. Excellent eating places within easy walking distance - Stanley Hotel provided a very enjoyable meal; Hurseys is a must visit with great seafood dishes, with an array of other options. Stanley is very easy to get around both on foot and by car. Only one bowser for petrol provided a challenge, but is easily managed. A great place to visit.

Nicely set up for tourists, with a wide range of accommodation options. A good base for exploring The Tarkine Drive (and some short walks along the route). Stanley has specially designed, red-lit platforms for admiring the little penguins coming ashore in the evenings. There is a nice, wind-swept walk around the top of the Nut, which hosts a colony of pademelon.

Penguin viewing, walking the town and enjoying a great coffee at Marley’s and excellent takeaway fish and chips from Hurseys. We arrived at 8 pm on Day 1. Spent Day 2 visiting the Tarkine area then walked around Stanley. Day 3 we enjoyed the Harvest Market - excellent for fresh produce, craft and music.

Accommodation was superb and pub was just across the road.

Accommodation was superb and pub was just across the road. If we had more time, it looks like a lovely little town to walk around. Definitely take the chair lift instead of walking up the hill. Then you have the energy to walk around the top of The Nut.

Stanley is a beautiful town with lovely houses and places to eat, drink and shop. A trip on the chair lift to the top of The Nut was excellent. Icing on the cake was seeing the little blue o penguins come home after a days’ fishing.

Really enjoyed our stay here, had some personal history for me as we lived on King Island when the cable Stanley-King Island-Apollo Bay was changed to a Tas-Vic cable in the mid 60s. Great idea to leave the telephone exchange open for people to see the history.
