Prossie is a great little town if you’re looking for somewhere away from the busyness of Airlie Beach. The aquatic centre and water park is free and a great way to cool off. An excellent fish n chips takeaway (Fishi’s) on the main road. Two supermarkets and walking along the Main Street you’ll see artwork on the footpath synonymous with the area. Plenty of pubs to wet your whistle but I can’t comment on other food outlets. I’m still discovering the attractions around here.

I had booked a trip with my sister to Airlie Beach but had to leave a day early due to flying on my reward points. I stayed in Proserpine overnight so I could pick up my sister and husband the next day when they arrived. There's not much to do here. It's hot and there's no breeze because it's not on the coast. There are a few nice women's clothes shops but otherwise the place is pretty dead. It's only about 30 mins to Airlie Beach though, so if you had a tight budget it would be cheaper to stay here and drive to the coast every day. Accommodation options are pretty basic though.

Without prejudice I feel that this property is run by a very disgruntled angry couple that treat their guests as the enemy. You can gauge by their responses to reviews which is predominantly constructive criticism always defensively responding and never acknowledging their shortcomings. The also like to “sign off” in a condescending manner for example “have a nice day” or next time you need to communicate better and so on. Not to draw my own conclusions or be judgmental but it would appear that the insurance company made good after cyclone Debbie and this has allowed them to carry out this excellent rebuilding of this well located property. Unfortunately it appears to have now giving this rather simple couple big heads and a new found sense of self importance. This coupled with an autocratic approach to the running of this formally humble family style side of the highway motel into a upgraded but now full of too many unnecessary posted rules everywhere like it’s a boarding school or military institution making guests feel uncomfortable. This is mentioned repeatedly in many of the reviews and is always responded to in a defensive manner. This has clearly got to this couples heads and is coming out in their approach to their new found “power and status” in their little Proserpine world. Quite sad to see.

Visited to catch up with school friend who lived out of Proserpine on a cane farm. Harvest on so lots of activity around the town, especially the sugar mill. Unfortunately because of COVID and OHS no visits allowed but so big it can be viewed from the street. Ate in the hotel’s restaurant. Bar food available. Run by owners who take great care of their guests. Exceptionally clean. Very easy to walk around town. Cane areas all seemed to be very flat. Would try to stay longer.

The motel is situated on the highway about 10 minutes walk from town. It was basic, but clean and tidy and plenty of bedding with larger-than-normal flat-screen TV. Shower/bathroom was spacious and water hot. Room had tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave and toaster. Petrol station/roadhouses about a 10-minute walk and town not much further. The Metropole Hotel runs a shuttle service and has good pub meals. The host also gave us a card for a taxi service.

Did not look promising from the front of the property, but the room had recently been tastefully renovated. clean, organised and a very comfy bed. Secure keyless entry, and despite thin walls, there was very little road noise. Walking distance to pubs in the main street. We had a great meal at the Metropol Hotel. Was not staffed due to public holiday, but instructions to access room were easy to follow.

Excellent quality motel in Proserpine. Very close to amenities and railway station. Rooms very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. Great fully equipped little kitchenette area with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, etc. Air con excellent in the heat and strong wifi. But above all Leah was very friendly, kind and professional so thank you, we will definitely stay again!

Absolutely loved the Sancturary atmosphere and decor. Artwork was really well picked and well done (and I suspect one piece at least was painted by our interesting host, Bruce). We arrived feeling somewhat stressed and within minutes we relaxed, enjoyed the spa and a peaceful night in the bush surrounding Proserpine! Well done and we hope to return.
