We had a good stay at the Skiki snow cabin. We very much appreciated being able to bring our dog with us as well, for no extra charge.
Old style small colonial town.
It's not easy to reach, but you won't regret the effort!
Well preserved colonial era buildings - Post office, bank, etc - nice parks surround it, and IT'S CLOSE TO THE SNOW!! 😃
The town pub has fairly good grub, there are several cafes and a bakery.
Nice for a short stay.

Omeo is a fascinating sub-alpine town, with a long history, including gold rushes and associated lawlessness. There are some lovely historic buildings and good interpretation. There are also the beginnings of a major mountain bike trail network, which will be completed in stages over the next couple of years. Omeo is a good base for skiing at Mount Hotham (much easier access than through Harrietville). In summer, it provides an alternative route to Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains. There are also some excellent walks in the vicinity, including to the Oriental Claims historic area.

We didn’t get to see Omeo in it’s best light because it rained quite a bit. The town has an interesting history and some significant historic buildings. There is also a very pleasant walk along Armstrong Creek, which flows through Omeo and was flooding at the time. It also has good access to ski resorts and coastal Gippsland for day trips, weather permitting. The Fresh Air cafe had a good menu with some vegan dishes. There is also a supermarket, bakery, several other cafes, a service station with adventure equipment and a pub.

Omeo is a history lesson. Always something to learn.
Omeo is a history lesson. Always something to learn. It's a small town in a rural setting. Its very scenic and quiet. Significant sites and buildings along the main street have information signs revealing the history. Its a great little stop on the way up to, or coming down from Mt Hotham. Dinner at the Golden Age Hotel is a must. The food was fresh and plentiful and the staff were fantastic. Don't go looking for night-life, there isn't any. It's just a nice, quiet place to rest.

Lots of short walks along river and old mining sites.
Lots of short walks along river and old mining sites. Old water wheel and buildings add character. Great bakery with delicious variety of sweet treats. Snow chain hire pick-up can be dropped off at other locations on other side of snowfields. Good base for Hotham ski village.

The town is situated perfectly for all kinds of bike riding and offers comfortable accommodation for travelers. The meals at the pub are tasty but overpriced, as are their drinks. There are a couple of placed in town to get a decent bacon and egg roll for breakfast.
I can't make too much comment about the town itself as I use it as a stopover for my travels through the mountains but I like the quiet of the town and make a point of staying here every year. It is also very clean.
What a gem.
We were only staying one night one the way through on a bike trip. This property would be perfect for one or two couples exploring the area and using Homeo as a base.
Streaming services including Kayo, a bonus.
Lovely.
The motel was very clean, bed was comfy and towels were fluffy.
We were in walking distance of the town and the Hilltop hotel was almost next door.
The owners were very helpful and the heater was on when we arrived (on a very cold day).
The house is well located in Omeo, which is reasonably well located to Mt Hotham.
It's a cosy, nicely appointed cottage/house that provides a comfortable, pleasant stay.
The motel is centrally located to Omeo township. Only four rooms and ours was one of the middle rooms. Couldn’t hear any other guests nor traffic. Great place to stay.
It was super comfortable and felt like home. The facilities were perfect for us. The kitchen had the best view of Omeo. Our host was lovely, friendly and welcoming.
