Our visit to the Mount Field National Park where we saw the Russell Falls was great. We called in to the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife building and the staff were very friendly and helpful with advice. On the downside, there are no real places to have a meal in National Park. We did a 10 minute drive to Maydena for an evening meal which was great.

Mount Field National Park is great.

Mount Field National Park is great. We saw platypus, wombats, Pademelon and Potoroo in the wild, and of course the tall trees, massive tree ferns, and the waterfalls. Oh - and the trip to Wombat Flats and Lake Dobson was a bonus. A great place to experience Tasmanian wilderness.

Celebrate this treasure, the Mount Field National Park, with easy walking to spectacular waterfalls and tall trees. Go again just before dusk to see pademelons & poteroos feasting in the bush. Make the effort to go up to the Styx TallTrees & StyxRiver. On the way, see Marriott Falls. The track along the Tyranna River rewards with changing viewsof the river as well as vegetation. Thank you to the working groups which keep these special places acesible for all of us.
