Maclean is a quiet little town where most of the shops close at lunchtime on Saturday and don’t open on Sunday. The Fishermans Co-op is fantastic. Very nice breakfast during the week at On The Bite. Good coffee at Botero. Townsend is also worth a look - there is a terrific brewery there called Sanctus.

I was attending a school rowing camp at the Lower Clarence Rowing Club. Maclean has both an IGA and a SPAR for all your food supplies, as well as some lovely clothing stores, chemists, pubs and coffee shops. There is a nice hilly walk up to the lookout, and the town is tidy and pretty. It is an easy drive to Yamba too.

Rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Ann the owner was a delight and arranged a early breakfast for us as we had to leave before the normal breakfast time. she also helped with our booking as there was a bit of a mix up by myself and made sure they could fit us in for the night. if we ever have to drive up north again and have to have a night somewhere we will definitely stay at this hotel.
