Nice room ground floor corner so lots of light. Hotel is older, and well used, but comfortable. Continental breakfast includes fresh fruit, yogurt, variety of cereals and bread, juices, milk, & coffee (instant). Location next RSL very convenient for reasonably priced food and drinks.

Good over-all. I did canyoning which was really fun, even though we had to change experience due to weather conditions. The guides were super. Not really social and a lot of families there. Loved the mountains, the hikes and the sunrise!

It’s an inspiring landscape, with some fairly difficult walks, which verge on climbs in certain places. Most areas are accessible to all though. The town itself offers a lot of facilities for everyone. We found the Basil Nut restaurant which was superb.
Don’t forget to take your own alcohol if you like a wee drink with your food.

Katoomba is a shadow of itself, with the downtown area shops & restaurants run down & many closed. We visited 18 years ago and it was a vibrant village with many shops and bars/restaurants to frequent. The hiking and landscape is just awesome! But there are a lot of tour buses to negotiate, and they bring guests to visit the mountain sights, but they don't linger and shop or frequent the local area bars & restaurants in the village area. I feel for the merchants of Katoomba, as not many tour buses stop in the village. We will probably not revisit the area again.

Use public transport, bus and train.
Use public transport, bus and train. Forget about UBER and taxi services. Unreliable service. Carry water and food. Don’t rely on walking tracks to be open or safe. Don’t rely upon public toilets. Fantastic place for adventure and relaxing in the outdoors.

Good option for overnight outing if visiting Sydney.
Good option for overnight outing if visiting Sydney. Have a stroll around the town, and visit the viewing points at Katoomba Falls. Take the train from Sydney Central, and on the return trip leave the train at Paramatta and take the ferry the rest of the way to Sydney.

The town is old and residential areas were dirty and unkept. The echo point was clean and tidy. Lots of sign posting for walks. Info center was helpful. RSL was great.
The night walk was lacking, some lights not working and the lights shining on the walls and falls were not strong enough.
But we did really like the walks and views. Maps were great and informative.

I really enjoyed everything from the warm welcome to the level of service. Staff is wonderful!
Excellent breakfast and food in the dining room, the bar is well stocked. The Carrington has an undiscribable atmosphere.
If in Katoomba this is the place to stay if you enjoy an old (1880) colonial hotel. Sitting on the veranda you can almost feel like taken back in time (with som imagination of course).
I highly recommend this hotel!
5 star service - Brian, the manager, was an absolute gem. The team were excellent with my husband's dietary requirements (celiac), we felt very safe and the food was exceptional. The room was lovely, quiet and comfortable. Fantastic hikes just outside the hotel. We wish we could have stayed longer.
The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The hotel had a wonderful view from the bar area and a pianist played in the evenings. Unfortunately we did not get to use the pool due to the weather.
The hotel was located about 10mins walk from the main street in Katoomba and the train station.
