This is our go to overnighter when travelling further north. On a busy road, but we had no traffic windows. great sized room and lovely newly renoed bathroom. The bistro downstairs is excellent and it is so close to the motorways if travelling north or south. Excellent value. Staff were very helpful too.

Holiday Inn Express Sydney Macquarie Park by IHG, hotel in Sydney

Holiday Inn Express Sydney Macquarie Park offers stylish rooms with free WiFi.

I liked the ambience of the room as i had made a request for a quiet part of the hotel. There was no traffic noise so i was able to sleep really well. Everything was clean and I appreciated the housekeepers' consistent efforts. All the staff I talked to were friendly and welcoming.

At the northern end of Sydney with a fully accessible railway station, and well serviced by public transport. And easy to reach when driving down from the north, which made this property ideal for me as I will be driving to Sydney the next time.

I was only in Hornsby for two nights but I had time to go to the Hornsby Westfield Shopping Centre which had every shop and supermarket chain imaginable within the complex - it was HUGE! I drove out to the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and walked to the DU FAUR GATES which is a very special tribute to the ANZAC's called the Sphinx/Warrimoo Track within the National Park. The Sphinx and Pyramids are entirely the work of the late EX-No. 5756 Pte. W.T. Shirley, 13 Battalion in memory of fallen comrades of the AIF while he was an inmate of Lady Davidson Home in 1925-26. At the same site is the mainmast from the HMAS Adelaide commissioned for service in 1922 and was "paid off from naval service" and sold to be broken up in Port Kembla on 21 March 1947. The mainmast was erected in the park in around 1950 to commemorate the second world war. This site is used every ANZAC Day for the Dawn Service and is very beautiful and poignant. That was about all that I had time for during my very short visit, but I enjoyed every moment.

Accommodation is handy to the Westfield shopping Centre which is an amazing complex in size with excellent shopping and food options available. For our family of three generations a convenient place to meet up between the Northern Beaches folk and the Hunter Valley folk. Can’t speak to the rest of Hornsby.

The Blue Gum Hotel is located within walking distance to Waitara Railway Station, also shopping in Hornsby. Not interested in shopping, Berowra Waters is a short drive away or Kuringai Chase or a train ride into the city then take a ferry across the harbour to Taronga Zoo.

There was black mould everywhere in the bathroom and room.

There was black mould everywhere in the bathroom and room. My room was changed when I arrived and I was like given to a room that was half renovated that had patches of plasterboard being half done up. When I pointed out that’s not the room I booked it was ignored! The towels had stains on it and so did the mattress. The pool is filled with dirt and the whole place is very run down! The laundry next to my room started being noisy at 7am on Saturday. The owner knocked on my door and asked me to check out 5 minutes after it was checkout time! I was not offered a discount for the disgusting room, noise or the overpriced rate!

It is close to NorthConnex entrance and it was late to find accommodation on the other side so we stayed in Hornsby for the night continued next morning. Dinner at Bluegum hotel was good, not so the accommodation.

The location of this accomodation is great for us to visit with nearby family. We've used it before when someone is in Hornsby Hospital and it's very close by for that. It's basic but the important things are covered - nice linen, clean rooms and great water pressure in the shower. If you don't want to head out for dinner don't worry - the restaurant is fantastic.
