It has changed.
It has changed. In the past we had a good time, however it was overflowing with Islamic type visitors, pool was overflowing, impossible to walk on streets, way too many people. even on the beach - overcrowded, we couldn't breathe, it's a concrete jungle with way too many people. Just disgusting.

Loved the restaurant in Broadbeach especially Marios an Italian Restaurant. Urban coffee shop excellent for breakfast and great coffee. At Shiraz Persian along the Gold Coast Highway we had an excellent meal one night and highly recommended.
The light rail is such a plus in this area and at only 50 cents a ride not worth worrying about a car in this area.

Having a hire car made all the difference to us.
Having a hire car made all the difference to us. Made it easier to get to Movie World and Wet n Wild with the kids (8 and 9) as its a good 30 minute drive. To use public transport would have taken more time and numerous swapping of buses / trams. not fun with tired and hot kids at the end of the day.
Our kids tried iFly (indoor skydiving) would definitlely recommend this. Kids thought it was better than the roller coasters! Opt for the extended 2x flights and being flown up to the top. Pete the instructor was great and made it so much fun for the kids. So chilled but concise with the instructions.

The cleanliness and the tidiness of the area.
The cleanliness and the tidiness of the area. The beautiful wide expance of very clean beaches which are patrolled and safe for swimmers/surfers. The wide choice of cafes, restaurants and bars most of which are very family friendly. A very family friendly area to holiday.

Go beyond the busy beaches and there is plenty of lovely stretches to enjoy with space. Lovely beach and kept really clean. We were on Palm Beach in the week before Christmas and expected large crowded beaches but was pleasantly surprised. It paid to go a bit further south along the coast.

Our apartment (503) was very close to the main road. Too much road noise. Hard to sleep. The room wasn't very clean. We had a family member staying in the Trilogy Apartments over the road. Much nicer than Solaire.. We barely saw any staff. 3.30 pm is too early to close reception. We flew unto Gold Coast Airport and hired a car. Was 4.00 pm by the time we reached Surfers. Not good enough really. Wouldn't stay at Solaire again, or recommend it to friends.
As a family who love the beach, these were perfect self catering apartments that were 10 second walk from the beach..
Apartments were spacious, and we felt like we could make ourselves at home. They were quiet too.
The pool and BBQ area are great size and clean.
Carparking in the secure garage was easy.
This will be our "go to" accommodation from now on when we are on the Gold Coast.
look it's your basic no frills budget motel on the Gold Coast... if you attending dream-world you could walk to it ... movie world and wet & wild are not far away short drive.. plenty of beds in the room and ok size..has a pool... so if you only want a cheap motel ..perfect .. there is a great tavern not far away boathouse ..good meals and a Westfield not far away either
