The rooms were well laid out and plenty of space for our needs.
The food in the local (attached) restaurant was good.
The staff service - bearing in mind we got there well after the reception had closed - were excellent.

I thought that I had been there previously and had a mental image of some beachside locality here in WA that I was sure was Geraldton. But it was entirely wrong: ertainly not Geraldton and I think this was my first visit.

I enjoy geraldton as a short stopover location on my way to the Northwest each year. It has a beautiful beachfront that the council has spent such a lot of money on providing long expanses of grassed and developed areas for families to enjoy. There are different types of outdoor playgrounds for different age groups, there are basketball courts and exercise areas, cafes and bars, and even a rooftop bar. It's a good town to pass a couple days as you travel further up the coast.

Very disappointed in our stay in Geraldton on Monday night.
Very disappointed in our stay in Geraldton on Monday night.
Our accommodation was clean and staff lovely but the actual unit was old dated with a faulty shower head and worst still the door safety lock was broken and unable to be used.
This was disturbing as after returning back from a drive looking for a place to have dinner there were 3 young blokes trying to break into cars .
No response when I tried to contact the motel phone number as it was after 9 pm.
The road noice was also very loud and went on all night.
Consequently I certainly wouldn’t recommend a stay at this motel unless really desperate for accommodation

Some nice things to see and do.
Some nice things to see and do. The waterfront area really pleasant, walking path runs a long way. If you surf there are some nice breaks near the rock jetty outcroppings, limited but there are breaks at the rocks. There are some sweet breaks way out near light house but you best be up for a long paddle and comfortable being wayyyy out. Some nice things to see, lighthouse and up on hill a memorial for ship that was sunk. The town kind of messy to drive around but walking enjoyable.

I like the foreshore area.
I like the foreshore area. It''s well done and a pleasant walj. The Museum is excellent as is the HMAS Sydney II Memorial on the hill. Beautifully done and a wonderful tribute.
Geraldton city centre is looking a bit old and tired and in need of a facelift. Some nice places to eat but some are also a but rundown. Even though we enjoyed our 3 day break up there, we are not in a hurry to come back.

Rhodeside Lodge met our needs perfectly as we went to Geraldton for one night for a Driving Test. The location was perfect The new owners, Alison and Guy, were welcoming and showed us to our room. The place was immaculately clean (lovely, friendly Cleaning person), the bed was comfortable. My daughter and I just wanted a cheap hotel for the night and the Rhodeside Lodge exceeded our expectations for a convenient, comfortable place to stay.
We had a great talk with the barkeper at the hotel's restaurant, memorable how knowledgeable and thoughtful he is in world politics. We liked the location and the security (fenced-in parking). The room was functional, but one could feel the positive touch of a designer who added some unusual elements into it (like the artistic ceiling lamps).
Ocean Centre Hotel was very accomodating in upgrading our room when we wanted an even better view of the ocean and the rooms have a nice view and are centrally located in Geraldton. For breakfast you can eat in the restaurant or go to one of the great café's close by.
Geraldton was a stopover on way back from Karratha. Sails is close to supermarkets, liquor store, petrol etc. Comfy place to sit outside with a wine, before heading to bed. Will highly recommend.
