Great location. The underground Queen room was amazing - very clean and quiet.
The hotel bar had reasonable prices (comparable to a pub in Sydney) and has a pool table and a pokies section.
The pool area looked great but we unfortunately didn’t get to use it.
Lots of parking.
Felt safe to leave your car but definitely make sure to take your valuables and lock it.
The hotel also had an excellent underground museum - definitely worth a wander.

Fairly basic Motel that needs a good tidy up. The area is generally shabby. The room was clean and the underground experience different but we wouldn't rush back to Coober Pedy.

All good. The first time to live in an underground accommodation which is very warm without using any heaters, it’s spacious, stylish and well furnished. If there is a common toilet rather than inside other bedroom would make it perfect. We enjoyed our staying.

I love visiting Coober Pedy for a day, or perhaps two.
I love visiting Coober Pedy for a day, or perhaps two. It's a great place to drive into from either direction - fantastic landscapes - and it's the right place to buy opals or opal jewellery. It also has a really good range of accomodation and eateries for such a small town.

Coober Pedy is unique, once in a lifetime experience.
Coober Pedy is unique, once in a lifetime experience. Look past the dust and machinery and look under ground and meet the fascinating people. Opal is so beautiful and a perfect keepsake. It is worth paying money for the tours as you learn so much about the history and the people.

The place may look like a slum city but worth the stay & exploration!
The place is very interesting & never judge a book by its cover!
Lots to see & do - you just need to take off your rose colour glasses.
The Serbian Orthodox Church is a must see even if you aren’t religious!!
The opal museum is worth a look & take the short tour - the young man is full of knowledge!!
The RSL is a great place on a Sunday afternoon & there is so much more to see & take time to speak with the locals.

Very unique town.
Very unique town. What you see on the surface is not necessarily what you experience. Took a tour on our first day which we recommend as this gave us a great insight into the history and people of the area, the Breakaways, which were stunning, Dog Fence, Moon Plain, and a working mine - with a glass of bubbles and a very informative and engaging Tour guide, (Noble Tours). The Big Winch 360 Cinema also had lots of historic information about Coober Pedy and the surrounding Outback Towns. We had a meal there - worth recommending - especially on sunset. Faye's Historic Underground Home and Mine also to put on the list. And don't forget the Old Timers Mine & Museum. Plenty more than this but you can do your own 'digging' for more.

Coober Pedy is a small town (approx 1500 people who have come from a wide variety of places) that may have almost as many tourists as locals most nights in winter, as it is the most obvious town to stay in when travelling north/south in remote South Australia - book ahead. Shops and services are few (eg: no vet) however the supermarket stocks a surprisingly wide range of things. Quite a few underground churches which are worth visiting and a few places to investigate what gold mining and living under Is all about - Old Timers gets our vote. Eat at John’s - great pizza, or at The Big Winch which has great sunset views.
