I had a specific need to be in that location, but for a weekend in Canberra city it would be too far out.
It IS a budget Ibis, but still cost $150 for a night which is way too much considering what's available in Canberra city.

A popular quiz question is: what’s the capital of Australia? If you answered Sydney or Melbourne then it’s time to discover the real answer – Canberra. With Parliament House at its core, Canberra fans out across both sides of Lake Burley Griffin to reveal a diverse mix of museums, restaurants and bars filled with curious tourists, political persons and public servants.
Canberra was created as a solution to Australia’s 2 largest cities squabbling over the right to become the national capital. The Limestone Plains region in New South Wales was chosen as the site for present day Canberra. It was a good choice for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bushland, mountain ranges and, more recently, wineries.
The National Gallery, National Museum and National Library of Australia highlight Canberra’s cultural riches. Other notable institutions to visit are the High Court of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive that stockpiles a collection of Australia’s early radio, television and film history.
The military also plays a significant role here with many training facilities for the army such as the Australian Defence Force Academy. An unforgettable experience is attending the Anzac Day Dawn service at The Australian War Memorial.
Australia’s cultural capital with a political punch has many hotels, motels and apartments on Booking.com for that city trip, business jaunt or family holiday.

I lived in Canberra for many years and love the area of Dickson which is why I chose your hotel. I have stayed before and I will stay again. Two Sisters is my favourite restaurant and the food never disappoints.

One of the worst large cities I have ever been, total dissapointment. Too spacious, empty, no night life, close to nowhere to eat in the evening. 450k people in the city - where? Felt more like a 10k-20k small town to me.

Because I work a couple of hours away, we tend to go there if I have a break from work (which is too short to actually go home), so it was our second trip to Canberra in less than a year. It's not somewhere I would recommend for more than a couple of days, and I find the city a little spread out/scattered for my taste - makes it a little difficult to get around if you don't feel like getting the car out for everything. Also quite difficult to navigate on foot for the uninitiated - everything looks a bit the same and the roundabouts everywhere get a bit confusion. Still, it was great weather and an enjoyable couple of days. Extra points for Luna Bar!

Canberra is the place for great art and it is often the National Gallery which brings me to this superbly designed capital city. This time I was mostly visiting old friends who were hospitalised but I managed to take in the Scupture Garden at the gallery and a magnificent Henry Moore sculpture at the National Library. The Ouroboros at The National Gallery is quite a new acquisition and it was fascinating to check out.

High Point: visit to the Australian War Memorial.
High Point: visit to the Australian War Memorial. Joined guided tour...excellent Volunteer Guide Bob had a deep understanding of the vision of the War Memorial and the those who sacrificed their lives in the various wars.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare - Fees everywhere. Although the Coles at Dickson you get it free with spend over $20
Research the public transport yourself - the visitor centre has a handout but you it is not that helpful as it only route numbers not stop information. Google Map may be more helpful.
Generally good customer service everywhere and locals helpful too.

Excellent accomodation for a couple of days. An easy drive in to the centre of Canberra to visit attractions. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were a good size and spotlessly clean. Beds were comfortable. We had booked last minute as our trip was impacted by weather and floods and we extended our stay an extra night. The staff were extremely helpful.
Very kind and helpful staff. The room was spacious and looked better than in the photos. The kitchenette was well stocked with plates and cutlery. Having a microwave oven is always a plus when travelling with kids. It is close to the centre but in a quiet neighborhood. Overall we loved the old hotel charm and would stay again if visiting Canberra.
I returned to this hotel for two reasons, 1. location - excellent area of Canberra, close to great eateries, lake and city and 2. the bed I had my first stay was soooo comfortable, but was a little let down as the bed the second visit wasn't the same quality. Still have no hesitations staying here in future.
We stayed in 2 bedroom room on the attached building (2 adults / 2 kids) and we had a Woolworths closeby so didn't use the restaurant. We had a fully equiped kitchen.
Parking was available inside the hotel and easy to park.
Overall good stay and would visit again if in Canberra with family.
