FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

We chose this facility due to its proximity to public transport - bus. A bonus was the closeness to a huge array of shops and services. A further bonus was the dining options literally around the corner. The swim pool was seldom without participants. Access for vehicular collection is good. Sight-seeing is immeasurable - so much history; 1st world transport -bus, trains and ferries. Architecture, sport venues, botanical parks, entertainment, museums, plays. Uber/taxis in abundance - well knowledged and helpful. Abundant variety of varied eateries

An excellent public transport system and very affordable (50 cents) per trip on all public transport services. A lot of changes with the road services seem to be in progress, probably in preparation for 2032 games, but there were plenty of assistance from the staff and they were so helpful and friendly, it really made a difference to ensure we were going in the right direction.

So many choices of eateries. although more expensive than most other cities/regions we have visited. Quality of food overall is outstanding, diverse flavours and cater for all dietary needs. Wonderful friendly people throughout the city. Freeways, etc., are very well sign posted and easy to navigate way through despite the many one-way streets in the CBD. This has a benefit though enabling a better flow of traffic. My favourite Australian city.

We went all the way down the river on what must be the best value river trip in the world at 50c! You don't even need a 'Go' card - just tap on and off with your credit card. We stopped at Riverside for convenient breakfast bar and Opa Greek restaurant with good Souvlaki chicken lunch menu ($29) complete with pitta bread and chips and Greek salad side, and lovely views across the busy Brisbane river. Sunny, friendly and lots of great indoor and outdoor places to visit.
