The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was lovely. We really liked how they brought the traditional Austrian wood carvings from throughout the hotel into the modern rooms by printing these patterns onto the headboard. We also loved the spa facilities, the Aroma sauna was so soothing and the upstairs area to relax too. Breakfast was good with a great selection of very tasty fruit.

The town of Zell am See has sadly lost its charm and should rather be avoided. The streets and promenades are overrun by Middle Eastern tourists, so you no longer feel like in a picturesque Austrian village. On the other hand, too many drunk Western tourists making noise at night, especially during Mittwochfest nights.

Zell am See has lots to offer.
Zell am See has lots to offer. We went predominantly for walking during the summer - there's great access to the ski lifts, with lots of trails to choose from. We also got a bus to Kaprun which only took about 20 minutes.
There are also many other options in the area, from paddle boarding to rafting, or simply using the chair lifts to see the incredible views from 'the top of Salzburg'. We visited the Mooserboden dam which you can do a tour of, but we did via ferrata there and saw lots of Vultures flying around!

Charming lake village.
Charming lake village. It exceeded my expectations because I didn’t really know that much about it. Originally booked the stay for three days but extended three more days. I am so glad I did because my next destination was a let down after visiting this little slice of heaven. I will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful lake!
Such a beautiful lake! We went in off season, so we could not take the boat for a tour, but we loved it anyway. The views of the mountains and hillside home across the lake were so pretty! We would love to spend time here in the summer. I'm sure it's beautiful and fun in the winter, but we don't like the cold so much!

Zell am See is a town on the route of the Transalpin train.
Zell am See is a town on the route of the Transalpin train. We stayed for one night before our journey across the alps to Zurich. If you don't ski, there is little to do in town when it's cold outside besides a stroll along the beautiful lake and a visit to shops and restaurants. One 24-hour period was enough for us to see and do everything. The location of the train station made this a very easy place to visit.

Zell am See didn't have the quaint alps village feel at all, more like a regular large town, the high street was very disappointing.
The scenery of the lake and mountains was breath taking. Simply beautiful.
Snow for skiing in Feb 24 was absolutely awful given the low altitude! A lot of mud patches on the lower runs rendering them unusable. I would consider elsewhere for skiing option tbh. The ski resort was small and good for beginners/families primarily.
I felt very safe walking around the town.
We liked the welcome, the hosts are charming, schnapps on arrival is a winner, (maybe we were special:))))
the location, and the honesty bar. We like hotels where the locals choose to stay. This is a family run hotel and after staying in a 4 star hotel in Vienna and a 3 star in Salzburg in the same week, we vote the Pension Hubertus as our favourite base. For English travellers it’s the number 10 bus from Salzburg airport to Zell am see and a 1.5hr train ride, easy.
The Gast Hous Hotel is well located in Zell Am See.
Very clean and very well presented.

I would like to thank each staff member and the Manager for their hospitality and continuous support during our stay.
