We loved our staying in Ortnerhof! Family of 6 + 1 additional guest may comfortably accommodate in a 3 bedroom suite. It has 3 (3!!!) new bathrooms which is super convenient for a big family. Super clean kitchen with all new cutleries. We were able to cook lunch for the whole family- the kitchen is equipped with everything.
Nice breakfast with cheeses, cereals, smoked salmon, variety of delicious breads and a la cart eggs. During our staying the dinner was always different, from meat to fish, amazing deserts, kids loved the pizza and fries, we got it even though it’s not in the menu.
The slope for the kids is 2 mins drive from the hotel.
But why we loved it more than any 5 stars hotel we used to stay is the people. Helga did her best to provide us with a Christmas tree, she was always available for our questions and requests.

It is a small village with more or less any shops you need.
It is a small village with more or less any shops you need. There are many hiking paths to enjoy and because it is early in the season there are no crowds and bikes around. You have to check the little paths because sometimes the owner of the land just closes the path and you have to make a bigger round.
There are castle ruins to be visited, huts and beautiful forest paths with stunning views.

The town itself is tiny and there is nothing to do (although there is a supermarket, gas station and bakery). But the hiking possibilities are limitless, as are the excursions you can make in the Hohe Tauern area. We also found some nice restaurants in the area.
A lovely place to stay for a family with small kids. The apartment is spacious enough and located in a peaceful and beautiful village. Everything was perfectly tidy (bathroom as well, which is not a rule for holiday homes), and you have everything you might need in the kitchen. The hosts are really nice people, very helpful.
Very cozy and comfortable appartment, pretty big for just us. Nice and well equipped, in a very nice and calm neighbourhood. There were beautiful small calfs in the rooms in the ground floor so I guess perfect for children in Summer.
We enjoyed our stay in Virgen very much. The road leading up to house is a bit narrow and steep, which could be a problem in snowy conditions. The owners are very nice and friendly.
Very clean apartment. Conveniently located next to a small lift, cross-country ski trail and a 2km sledge run. 10’ ride to Matrei ski resort. Worry-free parking. Spacious terrace.
