If I were smarter, I would not share this Little Gem". This is one terrific Gasthof in one lovely village. One hundred meters 'off the beaten path' lies this early hotel. A smart traveller would keep this Jewel hidden!
The owner and his lovely wife could not have made our stay any better. Our room was well appointed, and quiet. Immediately upon arriving, hotel staff carried our bags to our room, checked us in, gave us Visitor Cards providing free access to cablecars, museums, historic building, and the fabulous Burg Maunterndorf Castle, five minutes on foot. Parking was available directly outside our hotel.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best we found in our five weeks in Austria and Germany, and our eggs were cooked to order. Dinner was in a cosy dining room, with an excellent menu. Service was prompt, and attentive. We dined several evening, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful local specialties. The desserts were even better!
Hotel Steffner-Wallner is one place we will return to.
