Our hosts were very kind and friendly. The breakfast was really nice with locally made delicacies. The room was clean and comfortable. The peace and quiet in this remote location is simply amazing. We absolutely enjoyed the lack of mass tourism, the fresh air, and the spectacular view from our balcony.
If you aren't after a lot of hustle and bustle, appreciate the peace and quiet of nature, and don't mind the church bell ringing every 15 mins, this is the perfect place to relax and establish a base for your excursions in the area.

The main attraction is the nearest mountain, Schneeberg. There is a hiking pass and a special train in summer. The hike is fantastic! Best fitness you can have and a great view (if the weather is not too bad).

Puchberg is a beautiful little town with the Scneeberg scenery. Very good restaurants and bars waiting for the customers. Nice and friendly people everywhere. Only one homeless spotted... :D Unfortunately the Salamandra train is not working in winter.

I think visiting Puchberg am Schneeberg would be perfect as a day trip from Vienna - especially if you only go to hike the Schneeberg.
Staying the night in Puchberg is advised, if you would like to wake up to the view of mountains :) Or watch the starry sky ;)
Nothing is open in the evening, so if you descend the mountain late (as we did, since we missed the last Salamander train), there is nowhere to get food. Only one place is open, but they serve nothing but drinks by that time.
By about 8.30 pm (in September) the entire village was dark and quiet. Very unusual and eerie, if you've been staying in capital cities before that :P

The location is amazing at the foot of the mountains so beautiful views all around. The hotel was great, food and comfort and all. We used the spa which was a great way to relax. The hotel lent us some bicycles to cycle around which was good fun. Most of all the staff were exceptional. they greeted us very kindly and were so nice and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate us. It was truly an amazing experience. Thank you ☺️
I really liked terrace and view at Hochschneeberg. The hotel is close to town center and train station, where one can get a ride with Salamander Zug. The rooms have a bit dated, but well maintained furniture.
Free parking space is also an advantage.
Great location, many hiking routes nearby. Quiet area to stay. In front of the hotel there is a beautiful park - little lakes, and fun park for kids. The restaurant is very good, the fish was delicious! Staff was very nice, kind.
