This is our second visit here.
This is our second visit here. We like the location very much. The nearby cable car takes you in six minutes to an altitude of 2000 meters and the start of some amazing walks across meadows with 360 degrees views and up hill to a reservoir, a small lake and the top of the Golzentipp mountain. We went at the beginning of July and in all my travels throughout Austria I have never seen so many startlingly blue gentian and alpine roses.
There was a myriad of activities enroute to keep children very happily entertained and a superb restaurant/cafe at the start. A gem of a day.
We like to travel down the Villgratental which is near Sillian and where very old chalet houses abound and then travel to the Unterstalleralm cafe where there are stunning views from the balcony and lovely alpine food. The toilet seat lids are amusing too. There is a small toll to get to the parking space at the top and several walks from there. We love to walk up to Oberstalleralm village but also the waterfall which you can see from the car park opposite the Unterstalleralm cafe.

Obertilliach is a great mountain town with beautiful buildings, farm buildings blended in with residential buildings. Beautiful views, nice walks. The cable car is well worth the time, just make sure that you have half a day for it - We went up late in the day and only had about an hour at the top since the last cable car was at 4:00 pm. Of course cross country skiing in the winter is amazing with trails all over the valley and the nearby cross country/biathlon center.

Location is great - just a few minutes to skilift on one side and kabinenbahn on the other. Obertilliach is small, very quiet and pitoresque town with few restorants and foodstores, people are kind and say hello on the streets. Accomodation was very comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed. Alexandra was very helpfull and responded quickly when our microwave broke down. Althought appartment is at the ground floor we didn't hear any noise, on the contrary we had the best night sleep.
Everything about this hotel is exceptional. We enjoyed our stay so much we have decided to return next year for longer. It’s difficult to choose one thing out of the room, food, people because everything joins together to create a super holiday with everything done for you to make your stay exceptional.
The pool, service and staff - super friendly. Nice dinners at the hotel as well as a hotel bar for an evening drink outside on the terrace after dinner - superb! Beautiful scenery and modern SPA, especially nice outdoor pool area! Super relaxing after a hike in the mountains. Looking forward coming back!
