If I were smarter, I would not share this Little Gem". This is one terrific Gasthof in one lovely village. One hundred meters 'off the beaten path' lies this early hotel. A smart traveller would keep this Jewel hidden!
The owner and his lovely wife could not have made our stay any better. Our room was well appointed, and quiet. Immediately upon arriving, hotel staff carried our bags to our room, checked us in, gave us Visitor Cards providing free access to cablecars, museums, historic building, and the fabulous Burg Maunterndorf Castle, five minutes on foot. Parking was available directly outside our hotel.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best we found in our five weeks in Austria and Germany, and our eggs were cooked to order. Dinner was in a cosy dining room, with an excellent menu. Service was prompt, and attentive. We dined several evening, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful local specialties. The desserts were even better!
Hotel Steffner-Wallner is one place we will return to.

Atthe beginning we were a little bit disappointed as we did not get a room with balcony as originally booked, however Mrs. Margaret, the owner of the property, made it all up to us through her great hospitality and kindness. She was willing to help us with anything. Always nice, helpful and hearty. She gave to the accommodation services high added value.
Cleanness was also flawless and breakfasts rich. What we did not manage to eat during the breakfast, we could wrap with us as a snack for the lunch. That was also great.
Offering half board and country-style rooms, Haus Lungau is 1640 feet from the Großeck Ski Area on the outskirts of Mauterndorf. You are welcome to use the sauna and relaxation area.

Accommodation was really beautiful, in calmy and safe place, full of good spirit. I warmly recommend this place for those, who long to ski in Obertauern oder in Grossneck, The ski-bus station is situated 300m far from the house, next to the main road. That means 5minutes by foot or 10minutes by foot with skiboots. There is shop with opening time till 19:00hrs. That was great, you can manage all stuff after the skiing. We also appreciated the fireplace which we used during the dark cold evenings.

Beautiful place with history!
Beautiful place with history! Very peaceful, with great views! In the center there is a great hotel with a bakery. Drinking coffee with cake was very relaxing.The castle was a big surprise! Great place to take your kids!
The hotel is very nice and cozy with lovely decorations. The hosts were very welcoming and kind, eager to accommodate all our needs, providing recommendations. The beds were very comfortable and the heated ski storage a good ad-on.
Everything was perfect. Nice host, well equipped, clean and comfortable appartement. We received the winter Lungau Card and got a jar of homemade jam. We recommend this accomodation.
The hotel is located in the charming center of a cozy town, just a 15-minute drive from either Katschberg or Obertauern. Nice historic building and exceptionally hospitable staff.
A nice farmhouse in quiet village close to the Mautendorf city (shops, restaurants etc.) and great base for our bike trips in Lungau. Whole family was very nice and helpfull.
