Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.

Do not visit Argentinian side of the Iguacy Falls if you are from the United States. Go strait to the the Brazilian side. Totally different experience!
Argentinian side of tge Falls does NOT accept American CC’s. We tried 3 different ones including a bank card and they told us they all declined ( Hmm 😨Pretty embarrassing🤷♀️). When I called american banks they told that there were NO declined charges, which means the CC’s were not even run.

Enjoyed both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides of the falls. Jet boat ride was fun. Allow plenty of time for border crossing - it took us over 2 hours to drive from Gran Melia hotel (Argentina) to entrance to park on Brazilian side. Staying in the park was really good to have view of falls in the distance and easy access to train and walking trails. Be prepared to walk - the trails are several km, but walking through the forest we saw many butterflies and birds. The falls are AMAZING!!

The main streets are very touristy but fun and lively. Depending on your food taste, i would eat away from these areas for better quality food. We ate at La Rueda 1975 and the pasta dishes we had were excellent. If you intend to go to the Brazilian side of the falls do it with a taxi. The driver helped through the crossing and into the park. Also take a full set of clothing to change into if you do a boat trip !! Everything we were wearing was soaked. Socks, shoes the lot !

The National Park is an essential visit, and the layout of the trails and walkways make the falls accessible without detracting from their impact. Make sure you're aware which part of Iguazu you're planning to visit and which country you're booking a hotel in as it's split between 3 countries. There are separate airports in Brazil and Argentina here!

The one comment I have for future visits: two days just adequate to visit both Brazil and Argentina parks. Would have one extra day to go back to Argentina Iquazu Parks (@50% of entry fee if requested at time of ticket purchase).

Puerto Iguazú is a commercial border town with lots of green spaces and a beautiful view of the rivers where Paraguay, Argentina, and Iguazú meet. The best part is the Iguazú Falls which are 30 minutes by bus for US$5 each way.

The hotel is owned by a local and has such character. It feels like a little colonial hacienda and is furnished with reclaimed doors, windows, and antiques. Breakfast was exceptional, with homemade yogurt, breads, excellent fruit, and eggs to order, served in a delightful communal dining area. Our room was spacious and the location great. It's a walled compound with beautiful plants and trees and interesting sitting areas. The owner provided excellent personal attention and help with getting to and from the falls.
Excellent location. Safe. Close to public transportation to Iguazu waterfalls and puerto Iguazú town ($3000 pesos each way and per person as for my stay days in mid april) if you like to walk you could go from the hotel to the Iguazú town. excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff members. Very responsive via WhatsApp (find them on Instagram). Would stay again if I come back
The family run hotel was in excellent location near bus terminal to Iguazu Falls and to the airport. The staff were helpful, excellent and allowed us to change rooms when there was an issue with our original room. The pool was a wonderful refresher in the heat and humidity. Excellent restaurant and wonderful owners.
Brand new hotel. Very well located near airport and Cataratas. Wonderful pool. Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Very confortable room and bed.
