Merlo was truly great ! Lots to do if you are a little bit adventurous ! I do recommend a GPS device if you are up for some of the best trekking, some are also pretty thought, so wet shoes and appropriate “climbing” get can be handy !!
As always there are great places for lunch, tea time and dinner, and to NO surprise they are NOT the ones most advertised (except El Angel Azul tea house which is both very well advertised and an excellent option). Try to avoid anything with Godoy on the name (best place for lunch is without a doubt Cabeza de Indio).

Lovely little town mostly catering to tourists, with lots of adventure tours in the surrounding area. We had a great time hiking to el Salto del Tabaquillo in the Reserva de Rincon - you can book with them in town or directly at the reserva. Wonderful guides and a pleasantly challenging hike to some beautiful falls. Getting around the town itself is easy enough on foot, but beyond that you'll need the local bus, or better yet a car and experienced driver (or a rental car).

A very nice hotel at the top of the main street, close to the bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious and very clean and ideal for our one night stay. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good and hot. The staff were lovely and very helpful at check in. The facilities were excellent, with both an indoor and outdoor pool, along with a lovely solarium to relax in. Breakfast was very pleasant and done in three sittings. Parking was on site and secure. Recommended.
