The hotel was a very good value. Our room was small but had everything we needed. The staff was helpful in finding taxi service for us and storing our luggage. Breakfast was quite good. And the location cannot be beat. I strongly recommend the pizza place that is to the right as you exit the hotel.

This place was absolutely perfect for our stay! we enjoyed the big window looking out over the water and watching the snowfall. The room was very cozy and we enjoyed it so much. We had dinner there several times. The food at the hotel was amazing and the staff was really wonderful, helping us arrange for transport, do our laundry, and like I said, bring us food. It was a perfect and romantic stay!

Hot water, free breakfast with many options. Staff was helpful except for one gentleman who worked at night: he was very strange when we asked him about tips for what to do in the area.

El Calafate is a small city in Argentinean Patagonia, situated in the foothills of the Andes and on the shores of Argentino Lake. Blending colourful wooden houses and Alpine-influenced architecture, it is the gateway to the Glaciers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation in El Calafate and surroundings, from 5-star hotels to cheap hostels.
The area was originally inhabited by the ‘Aonikenk’ people, while the modern settlement grew at the beginning of the 20th century as a refuge along the wool trade route, taking its name from the native blueberry bush known as ‘Calafate’. The town was founded by the Argentinean government in 1927 to promote the colonisation of the area, but its development started only after the creation of the National Park, in 1937.
The famous Perito Moreno Glacier is 80 km from the city. Mount Fitz Roy, the small town of El Chaltén, the romantic Onelli Bay, Lago del Desierto, and Roca Lake are some of the impressive landmarks that make up Argentina‘s 2nd-largest natural reservation. If you want to experience Patagonia’s languid vastness and tranquillity, try some of El Calafate’s rural accommodation or ‘estancias’.

The personnel at the hotel was tremendously helpful.
The personnel at the hotel was tremendously helpful. They helped me in a difficult situation where I had to buy airline tickets on an emergency basis. They helped organize an excursion, a trip to Perito Moreno and to organize transportation for my group of 13 to and from the airport.
My room was beautiful; in fact, all of our rooms were wonderful.
This is a quiet place.

The only thing to really do is visit the glacier.
The only thing to really do is visit the glacier. I thought we could do more to make an extra day worthwhile but the tours to visit the other parts of the park were super expensive. All tours in the area were way too pricey and you can’t really do anything else without a tour. The restaurants are good, but in general I think Chaltén has a lot more to do and see.

The trip to the Glacier was memorable, the people friendly and helpful. Restaurants were excellent and you could walk anywhere in town easily from any hotel in the central area. We had a lot of fun here! Highly recommend the Patagonia Queen Boutique Hotel. Rafael will take great care of you!

I am a tour guide and I come to calafate with groups, at the end of my work I have a day or two of rest for myself. it is a beautiful city. although it should improve its internet service (it is regular everywhere) and they have too many dogs loose in the streets although they are not aggressive.

El Calafate is the place to be for visiting the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. We did the Big Ice Adventure with Hiele Aventura and it was amazing. The town itself is fine but very touristy.
The waffle café elba'r and the Patagonia Brewery were the best places we went to eat and drink.
The Glaciarium was interesting, a very text-heavy museum, lots to read. We went to the Ice Bar there too, however I'd already been to the same concept in another city - if you've been to one, you've been to them all.

I did not like this hotel.
I did not like this hotel. It was miserable and did not live up to its advertising in booking at all. No good cuisine , no hot tub as advertised This is not a 5@4 star whitely and you are advertising it incorrectly
Somewhere in between a hotel and a hostel. Lots of services, including laundry (they do it for you), a tour company (Patagonia Backpackers), and packed lunch (for a cost). Nice building. Good sized bedrooms and comfortable bed. Very nice staff. Free luggage storage (not locked) and ample common space in the breakfast area for hanging out. Location was nice: on the Main Street of the city but a couple minutes’ walk from the main sites which let it be quieter. It’s also an easy walk to the bus station in El Calafate.
Kalken Hotel Calafate is a middle of the road kind of hotel. It doesn't have any luxuries and it's not fancy but rather outdated but it's OK, very clean and fine for a 3/4 day stay. You will spend just the nights there anyway so it's perfectly fine. The best features of the hotel are the location (within walking distance of the city centre) and the staff, which is very friendly and willing to help or even chat with you.
Breakfast was rather simple but you could ask for seconds.
I would stay there again for sure.
Really well located hostel in El Calafate. Extremely helpful staff who spoke good English and were able to help us with booking a bus to Perito Moreno Glacier, telling us where we could get our laundry done, and booking us a taxi to the bus station. The facilities were great - lots of large shared common areas and a well equipped kitchen. Breakfast was delicious and served from early on so perfect for getting out and about for hiking/tours etc.
Perfect place to stay in El Calafate - would highly recommend!
Room was way better than what it looked like in Booking.com, they were nice and spacious and plenty of hooks for our weather beaten jackets at the end of the day.
Great breakfast.
Very courteous staff - easy communication through Whatsapp. No Cabify/Uber in El Calafate but we were able to easily message the front desk and request a taxi no matter where we were in town. Our tour pick-ups were also conveniently confirmed this way. Very efficient!
Would stay here again!
This property is walking distance to the main street in El Calafate where all the restaurants and shopping are. It was nice to have the room to spread out a bit after sharing hotel rooms for several days. We also enjoyed having the kitchen so we could fix our own christmas dinner and breakfasts. Rosa met us and showed us the apartment and gave us tips for where to eat out. She was very helpful and easy to reach. The apartment and building were very clean.
The perfect place to stay in El Calafate. The host was very friendly and the check in / check out was quick and easy. The apartment is great and has lots of additional touches that other places don't have. Free Netflix, fast WiFi (for Argentina), shampoo, soap, full kitchen for cooking, heater, fridge stocked with beer and drinks to buy if you need. Very clean and comfy. I would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful view from the hostel. Very spacious place. It was low season when we came, so we practically had the whole hostel to ourselves :D Great wifi for work.
*most importantly, this hostel did not take advantage of us as tourists. We didn't even have to show Booking.com terms. They charged us honestly. We stayed at quite a few throughout our 2 months in Argentina, many would add extra charges.
the best i have stayed in Argentina.
clean, cosy, friendly staff and the Awesome owner Andy who provides the best advice any time any day! Thumbs up Andy to you and your team!!!
They organise trips, change money, rent bicycles and prepare the most thoughtful breakfast package one can think of...
Highly recommend this place and shall return with friends in the future;)
Muchas Gracias!
Lovely little hotel to explore El Calafate - the staff were super helpful, from check in, to daily breakfast and also providing recommendations of things to do in and around town.
The room was a great base with everything you needed there. Loved the view over the town and the heated floors were a lovely bonus for the cold nights! Great location close to town and the bus station.
The private lodge was exactly what we needed after Chile. The location has beautiful views of Lago Argentina, very short drive to town and some good restaurants closer. Staff was so nice and took time to make sure we had everything we needed to make our experience the best.
The most amazing view of the lake, large room, beautiful hotel, great breakfast. The hotel is about 30-40 minutes walk from the center of El Calafate, but it's really worth the walk, otherwise just take a taxi.
Also, we tried a massage and it was absolutely great!
Great and cosy hotel in El Calafate.
The rooms were comfy and big with a staff super welcoming and spot on.
The swimming pool is very nice to enjoy a chill time with the kids after visiting the city or the Perito Moreno.
Would definitely recommend this hotel 😊
We loved the Eco Vista Hotel and the manager, John. It was simple, comfortable, and spacious. Neatly tucked away from the major nightlife in El Calafate, but still very walkable. Note that there is no A/C so you will want to open a window in the summer.
The location was excellent. Was within walking distance of everything necessary. The room was very clean. If you are looking for a great steak you need to go to Casimiro Biguá Parrilla & Restaurant. It was the best steak we had in Argentina.
This hotel is awesome! Very nice decoration. Great view of the mountains/desert/city. Close to the main street (10min walk). Breakfast was really good (best medialunas I've ever tasted in Argentina). Staff was very friendly and receptive.
Beautiful views from the communal area - really lovely vibe to the hostel! Room was clean and comfy. Staff were really helpful in recommendations and trips! Also, the BBQ was the highlight - some of the best meat we had in Argentina!!
The location is perfect and you can have a great view of the argentina lake. That being said, you may need a car to travel here and the town center is a little far on foot.
