FAQs about hotels in Buenos Aires

Tango for Your Senses

Cosmopolitan and trendy with South American essence and European charm, Buenos Aires represents the living image of tango: elegant yet passionate and nostalgic. Surrounding its harbor and vastly populated by immigrants from the Old Continent, it is a faithful image of Argentina’s typical ethnic patchwork.

The enormous relief of Evita’s face at 9 de Julio Avenue, La Boca's humble and colorful streets, the stylish buildings along Avenida de Mayo, or the modernly refurbished docks in Puerto Madero: Buenos Aires is an exciting and captivating city, full of history and full of stories.

Some of the finest Buenos Aires hotels are located near the Casa Rosada, in the Montserrat district. A few blocks south, you can find hotels in San Telmo mixing modern style and old-fashioned architecture.

Just outside the center in Recoleta, there are beautiful early 20th-century hotels, mansions and embassies surrounded by greenery. Palermo hotels include a vast array of apartments, hostels and small boutique accommodations.

After arriving at Ezeiza International Airport, enjoy the rhythm of Buenos Aires and its many cultural offerings, fashionable shopping streets, its huge variety of restaurants, and the busy nightlife.

Lots of things to see and do. Good food and drink. There are a few places to walk and enjoy the sights. It is a large spread out city with rather large distances between many of the major sights in the city. It is not a walkable city.

I grew up in Buenos Aires, but left almost 40 years ago.

I grew up in Buenos Aires, but left almost 40 years ago. I had not been back in almost two decades. I had forgotten, or never appreciated, what an absolutely fantastic city it is. I would not live there, nor in any other large city - I live in Santa Fe (NM) which is the perfect size and landscape for me. But as a world city, and as a visitor, Buenos Aires is marvelous. It preserves many buildings and the charm of an early twentieth century European outpost, which is what Buenos Aires is. There are also brand new, 21st century neighborhoods with mindboggling skyscraper architecture. The parks are gorgeous, and in excellent shape. There are more museums, bookstores and theaters that you will be able to visit in a lifetime. Public transportation, if you know how to navigate it, will get you anywhere, but it is also a very walkable city. I felt very safe, but of course I speak the language with a native accent, so a bit of caution is always warranted. And the women!! Ohh my!! No wonder I married an Argentinian, almost half a century ago.

So much to see and do in Buenos Aires!

So much to see and do in Buenos Aires! However, it was MUCH pricier this time than just 2 years ago. We will probably visit other places instead that might be more economical. El Gran Ateneo bookstore, eating at a parilla, Recoleta cemetery, The Puerto Madero Nature Reserve, A Tango show/dinner, San Telmo Market, The Japanese Garden are just a few of the great things we've seen/done in Buenos Aires.

Sites far apart and not easy to get to if you love to walk, as we do. Remember to book a guided tour of the Teatro Colon. Otherwise you can’t even get in just to look. MALBA was a lovely museum. Tango shows touristy but fun. Had a fantastic meal at Parrilla la Brigada.

People from the USA used to 100 a night hotels being just "so so" need to know that a cost like that in November can buy a rather upscale hotel! Also, make sure the staff speaks English which makes things WAY easier. Places I visited and I was happy about it? People watching is fascinating on Florida St. The hop on /hop off bus is a wonderful way to see Buenos Aires. I would love to take advantage of the cruise port one day. The steak here is WONDERFUL. The people are SO friendly and helpful. Watching people do the Tango on the street while sitting at an outdoor cafe is a special treat! Find out where /when this may happen (I stumbled on it accidently.) I did not go ; but, one day it would be great to visit China Town there...it was huge and beautiful (I saw it from the hop on /off bus). There are parts of the city that could be New York City or Chicago -- don't assume that because there is some economic hardship that there are no places of luxury , beauty , and upscale stores.

Should be a beautiful city but in need of more maintenance.

Should be a beautiful city but in need of more maintenance. Compared to Sydney Australia it is a bit intimidating. Taxis only take cash- and prefer USD - take a couple of hundred USD because the ATMs are restrictive and a rip off! Much easier if you have cash in your pocket because cash is king for smaller purchases. The parks and the cemetery are amazing to visit.

Bed & room were very comfortable and lobby was very comfortable with a selection of food and drink available at all times. Security was excellent & it’s an easy walk to Palermo Soho, many excellent restaurants and Plaza Italia. The staff were outstanding - friendly, helpful and happy to make arrangements for us, including currency exchange delivered to the hotel after hours and a very early taxi pickup to the airport. Highly recommend Shoshana. Thank you Ezekial & team!

Front desk service was the best that we received in our Argentina trip. Advice on places for lunch while they managed check in was no problem, nor was arranging transport to the airport. Our room was excellent - spacious and comfortable. We loved the boutique feel of the Hotel Mio and the location in Recoleta suited us perfectly. We could duck across to the cemetery when it opened at 9am for an hour or so before we headed out to Ezeiza.

I love Buenos Aires and I traveled to this city several times. I can say that this apartment has a strategic location to get to know the city. It is close enough to the Recoleta neighborhood to see the most cultural tourist attractions at the same time as being in Palermo to enjoy its movement and all its nightlife. Not to mention that the apartment is beautiful, modern and in excellent condition.

Great location in Palermo. Big comfortable bed, lots of electrical sockets and super bathroom. The breakfast was included and must be one of the best in Buenos Aires. The pool looked great but the weather was a little too cool to try . We’d recommend the nearby La Cabrera for great steaks (order the Lomo Grille cooked Jugoso (rare)).
