Hotel Basen, hotel in Sisian

Offering a restaurant, Hotel Basen is located in Sisian. Free WiFi access is available. All rooms come with a wardrobe and fridge. The private bathroom also comes with slippers. Extras include a desk....

The breakfast was basic but quite delicious. A wonderful spread of homemade jams and breads, complete with fresh milk and a wide array of teas and coffee. But the best part of the experience was the exceptional service. For one, the hotel provided fresh fruit and a variety of maps and guides in the room, which actually led me to complete a hike in Sisian that I did not know existed! Specifically, I would like to thank the front desk staffer Ani specifically. She was incredibly warm and polite and allowed me to store my baggage at the front desk even after I had checked out. Even after she was off the clock, she still helped me book a taxi to Tatev, which was greatly appreciated. She certainly went the extra mile to make my stay in Sisian a comfortable one!

Karin's B&B, hotel in Sisian

Featuring a shared lounge, Karin's B&B features accommodation in Sisian. The property has mountain and garden views.

We had an amazing stay at Karin’s. After hiking and camping for a few days on the Transcaucasian Trail, the hot shower, beautiful garden and impeccably clean room were super refreshing. What made our stay especially memorable though is the way in which Karin made us feel at home and the evening chatter over a cup of tea in the beautiful garden. Also, make sure that you don’t miss out on the amazing home-cooked dinner with so many homegrown veggies. Worth a detour to Sisian if it’s not on your schedule already!

Yeghevnut Hotel, hotel in Sisian

Offering a 24-hour reception and rooms with flat-screen TVs, this hotel is situated in the east of Goris.

A beautiful, cozy, family run gem of a hotel in Goris overlooking the surrounding green mountains. We stayed there for a night with family as part of our road trip in Southern Armenia and were amazed by how nice and comfortable this place is. Staff and owner were very nice and helpful. Make sure to have your breakfast or coffee on the balcony overlooking the mountains, the view is amazing. The location is few minutes car drive from the city center which gives you the resort type of feeling if you want to relax and enjoy the surrounding green scenery.

Sisian isn't quite on the mainstream tourist trail, yet.

Sisian isn't quite on the mainstream tourist trail, yet. It's a clean and compact town with a Soviet design - almost a glimpse back to the Soviet era. There's a good hiking option through meadows to Shaki waterfall, and a little visited monastery and medieval bridge a taxi ride away. It also has megalithic rock arrangements that they call Armenia's Stonehenge - though small and basic compared to Stonehenge.

    1. The ancient monastery Vorotnavank is remote and beautiful. Take your time and walk around to explore the beauty of the Vorotan river gorge. 2. The stone circle Zorats Karer is certainly worth a visit. 3. Highly recommended is a trip by jeep to Ughtasar petroglyphs and to the volcanic plateau to the northwest of it along the boundary with Artsakh (N.-Karabakh). Bring warm clothes, it's above 3000 m. 4. The waterfall at Shaki is a natural beauty, you shouldn't miss it.
