Developed in Japan, these cheap “pod” hotels are a novelty for any traveler. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodations are basic and intended to be overnight. There's separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms. Some capsule hotels also have a sentō – a Japanese bath house, usually for male guests only.
The apartment is very modern and looks exactly like the photos. There is convenient underground parking, and with one elevator journey, you are almost at the front door. We loved the fact that there were so many restaurants (within a 2-minute walking distance away) and a good supermarket, so we never had to get into our car once there. Nadia was very friendly and accommodated me with my check-in and check-out times.
Owner was very friendly, the property 100% looked like what we saw on the internet,very convenient , surrounded by a lot of places,bolts very cheap, so n many routes to bypass the morning and evening traffic, just a home away from home
We travelled South Africa for 3 weeks on our honeymoon. Pod hotel was by far our favourite stay and we cannot wait to return! The facilities in the hotel are at a 5 star level.
The staff at Pod camps bay are so helpful and friendly, the level of service went beyond our expectations!
Overall, this is a must stay if visiting Cape town.
Good idea behind the hippo pod hotel but it's definitely not the fanciest place to stay. If you are looking for the cheapest possible place you could stay in central cape town this is your place. But if you want a comfortable, clean and welcoming place to stay maybe it's not for you.
The Pod hotel is amazing! It’s such a stylish, well thought through hotel with everything you’d need for your stay. The team are incredible, gave such a comprehensive check in ensuring you had all of the information about the hotel and local area. They we’re also very friendly and attentive. I’d highly recommend this hotel and I’ll definitely be rebooking if I come back to the area.
It's beautiful and clean! The staff -from the lobby when you enter all the way to the cleaning staff- were super friendly and accommodating which made my stay even better. I needed to go to the atm in the evening and one of the staff offered to escort me as it was dark out. Conveniently located as it is right in the middle of town and so many restaurants choices. Near long street as well for those that might be keen on the night life. Budget friendly as well. Definitely recommend!
I love how friendly the stuff was as well as how neat and tidy the place was. The hippo pod is located in a great location which is close enough to walk to convenient stores and more.
