Looking for a capsule hotel?
Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

Good bed and convenient room, helpful staff that still cooked dinner for us when we arrived late, swimming pool, nice location that is walking distance from the red desert, cheap food, temperature was fine (during rainy season)

Conveniently situated 20 minutes away in a tuk tuk to Tatacoa Desert and 5 minutes to one of the surrounding astronomical observatories, this beautiful and quiet hotel was a brilliant stay in Villavieja. Friendly staff who emulate the openness and kindness of the rest of the small town, this place had a lovely clean pool, room and working air conditioning which is important in the humidity of the area. And fantastic breakfasts!

The owner doesn’t speak English but he’s super friendly and helps you with whatever you need. (With Google translate you come a long way.) We did our laundry there which was super cheap (I reckon only like 20k). The rooms were nice, big and clean and the hostel is like a 2 minute walk from the centre. You get a ‘good morning coffee’ every morning. :)

Location is right between the red and grey deserts and across the street from a nice astronomy spot. Very cheap. Very quiet and peaceful. The guy is super friendly and helpful.

Comfortable hotel, nice breakfast very quiet (that makes a change!), helpful staff, recommendation to use Schneider as a guide to the Tatacoa worth it. Pretty easy to do the 2 parts of Tatacoa yourself but Schneider added lots of value by way of his knowledge. Villevieja is as noisy as it gets so don't stay inside the town unless you are deaf and on a tight budget. Cosmos is just outside the noise blast zone and very conveniently on road to Tatacoa, but an easy walk into town.

The property is near to all the amenities of Villavieja. The staff are friendly. They are good about providing information and opportunities for tours of the Tatacoa Desert. It is also a very cheap place to stay

The staff are really friendly and welcoming. They have lovely dogs too. The food served is really great and cheaper than any of the restaurants we went to nearby. It's within walking distance to the red desert and the observatory and you can arrange tours if needed or transport through them. We took transport with them to the grey desert and they wait for you for 2 hours so you can explore and go in the pool there. There are lots of areas with hammocks to relax too.

The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. We felt relly taken care of. The place itself is very nice, a lot of plants, flowers and birds. Very close to the observatory and you can walk to the red desert. Food is simple but cheap and good (+vegetarian option).

Rooms are very spacious, clean, and comfortable with private bathrooms. The hotel is conveniently located at the edge of the nearest town to the desert from which it takes max 20 mins to the desert by car. Staff is very friendly and helped us out with booking a guide (Esneider) who did an amazing job! Very very highly recommended.
