Ties Campground was a wonderful place to stay as a family. We were hiking a number of days on the Nakasendo Way & returning to the campground each night was great! The place is very well set up with provisions for cooking and cleaning and the glamping tents are really beautiful, with plenty of warmth in the way of sleeping bags and doonas provided. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.
1. The size of the room! 2. Breakfast delivery - in a wicket basket, feels like a picnic in the room. 3. The bathroom and amenities feels luxurious. 4. Dining and convenience stores are nearby and offers quite a number of options. 5. About 10 minutes slow walk from the station. Easy to find.
The owner was very friendly and drove us to the monkey park. It was very clean and we were allowed to use the downstairs room for our dinner from the convenience store as unfortunately when we went it was so busy the whole town was full for dinner reservations. We had an outdoor onsen which was fun.
Hamanoyu is everything you could expect from a 4-star onsen hotel located at a popular domestic tourist destination; the lobby was thoroughly impressive, the room, although a bit small, was very clean and quite comfortable, and the onsen was supreme. The location near the shoreline of lake Suwa, and next to a range of other onsen hotels (as well as restaurants and convenience stores), leaves little to be desired, and there is also free parking.
