The Shepherd's Rest

Oamaru

The Shepherd's Rest is situated on a farm, within a 10-minute drive from the centre of Oamaru. The adults-only property has mountain views.

The hut includes a kitchenette with a toaster and a fridge, as well as a kettle. An en suite bathroom with composting toilet is also provided. Jennie is a wonderful host and made us feel very welcomed. Even though it’s quite compact, it has everything we needed. The moment we stepped into the farm, we felt so relaxed and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Love it here. I am missing the three Alpaca Brothers and the sheep already. Love that we could feed them and interact with them anytime we wanted and the cutie pies made us feel very loved and welcomed too!

Glam camping Queenstown

Queenstown

Situated within 10 km of Shotover River and 12 km of Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, Glam camping Queenstown provides accommodation with seating area. This luxury tent features free private parking and a shared kitchen. Guests can make use of the picnic area or the barbecue, or enjoy views of the lake and garden. It's definitely a life-time experience! It's beyond my expectation and imagination! The domes are on the hills and you can have a great view of the lake. Kitchen and shower facility are more than enough. We can cook and use BBQ to prepare wonderful food. Water is enough for 3 people to have a brief but very warm shower. Room settings are very considerate, with all the blankets and rugs to keep you warm. In a clear night, you can see the galaxy very clearly. The hosts are very helpful and welcoming, and there are a few things need to bear in mind: - please read the manual inside dome carefully once arrived, very helpful for your stay - no signal around the camp - could be cold in the evening the inside the dome (nevertheless, hot water bottle, blankets are provided and you will see the breathtaking landscape) Finally, as I said, it’s a life-time experience beyond expectation and imagination!

Mt Gold Glamping

Wanaka

Located near the egde of Lake Wanaka, Mt Gold Glamping is set on a private farm. There are 2 private campsites with tents on offer, which are accessible by foot. Free private parking is available on site. Everything. It's isolated which is so nice, it felt like we were alone in the forest. We had everything we needed for cooking (other than food, which we brought) and cleaning up and keeping warm. Even though it was somewhat cloudy, we saw so many stars at night and it was amazing. Be careful to bring your trash inside because we heard a bunch of bumping around and night and when we shined the flashlight, there was a possum rummaging around in the kitchen! Thankfully we didn't have anything left outside, so it wasn't a big deal. Overall this was such a great experience, maybe my favorite in our south island trip.
