For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
Great guesthouse for a short stay in Onomichi. The house itself is old with beautiful views any time during the day and you can see the stunning sunrise/sunset if the weather is good enough. The food especially the cheese cake is good too. It is very close to the temple thus a perfect place for people who enjoys Buddhism/Zen culture to get there and pray. The location is also close to the viewing platform on the mountain, the Onomichi museum, and the Cat Alley. The restroom and the showers are clean and convenient.
We loved how beautiful and clean the hostel was! The view of the water from our room was really lovely, and even though bathrooms and showers were shared, they were so nice that it didn't matter at all. Highly recommend staying on Ikuchi island if you are biking the Shimanami Kaido--really lovely area around the hostel and the sunset at Setoda Sunset Beach is an easy bike ride and definitely worth it. Next time I would be happy to stay more than one night to be able to spend the whole day there.
Super comfortable beds .. beautifully set up … great neighbourhood …. Our favourite accommodation … don’t let the front door contents put you off this is a very special property
The place was just excellent! The bay nearby is simply stunning, and you can see sunset from the bath at the onsen (that you can get a discount for in the reception - I'd also recommend going to Kitsune no Botan for a dinner and a drink).
The view from the room was incredible. A traditional tatami room with futon beds. The cafe dowstairs had a really authentic vibes and we ate some delicious deserts. It is located on a steep hill, but the trip is totally worth it for the view. Really close to the temple.
The hosts went above and beyond to be warm and welcoming. They stocked the fridge with breakfast materials and even drove us and our luggage to the train station. The house is beautiful, and we had a lot more private space than we expected. It's also close to the cable car to the top of the mountain, which has amazing views, especially around sunset. We were able to store our bikes overnight. Also, Isau and Elena speak Spanish.
Extremely beautiful and well curated place, every detail is being thought of. We felt very welcome there and enjoyed a lot the sunset view from the room.
The location was beautiful, the room sparse, comfortable and clean. The restaurant downstairs was a great treat, with a lovely sunset view and delicious food! It's a great halfway overnight stop on the Shimanami Kaido bike path, or you can take a ferry from Onomichi. For bikers, there is also a bike repair/exchange in town!
The staff member that welcomed us was very kind and helpful. The location is picturesque, the facilities were lovely and all was very clean. Good shared kitchen social space too. I loved that there was thoughtfulness and care from management around waste/recycling. Also there was an excellent public bathhouse nearby and lots of good places to eat/hire bikes and close to a great beach (Sunset beach)
