For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
What a special place. A little house right by the river, surrounded by nature. A lovely veranda to watch the rain, and a bbq/fire area for sunny days. We were delighted to hear bats chattering in the roof - something we’d never experienced before. The host, Ridley, is absolutely brilliant and did everything to make sure we had a good stay. Phone signal is poor… but this made us leave our phones and focus on being there. If you like being in nature, and are happy to embrace the quirks of being off grid, this place is a real special find.
Made welcome, nothing was too much to ask.
Breakfasts were lovely - they were really tasty.
The views over the hills - and the sunsets - were gorgeous to behold.
Help choosing where to have my evening meals was just right. There were good options in town and further out. (I stayed within walking distance.)
There was my own robe - in my own private bathroom. (I chose a room (Starling) with a separate bathroom for £ reasons).
The rooms were nicely presented, my bathroom was bright and pretty. Everything worked!
The stay was cosy and very quiet, exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of space inside and out. The homemade cakes were a lovely touch. Loved looking at the ponies and wildlife.
It’s a stunning location and very spacious compared to other shepherds huts we’ve stayed in. You are left completely on your own and not bothered at all. Loved seeing all the wildlife and the horses in the field.
The setting and 'off grid' experience was unexpected and unique. I enjoyed it very much, like being in the film 'Deliverance' should have taken a banjo for the verandah beside the river. Ridley was an accommodating and kind host as I turned up in the wrong place unexpectedly early.
The property was clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. The location was pretty, quiet with views and a glorious sunset too.
I originally planned a camping trip with my two sons, but luckily we found the Wye Riverside Lodge. We wanted a ‘Boys’ weekend away without the hassle of putting up tents but still enjoying the outdoors and a good old-fashioned campfire. Located right on the river this cozy little lodge exceeded our expectations. It has all the basics you need, is very well-maintained and our host Ridley was extremely helpful and friendly. Really enjoyable weekend and we will definitely be visiting again.
Stunning views, peaceful and the wildlife. The pod itself was presented very well.
