For travelers who love being in nature with some added luxury. Also known as glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, surrounded by wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it and stay glamorous.
A unique hotel with lots of local character, warmth and charm and a proper Northumbrian welcome. Beautifully decorated with quirky quality wallpapers, washed wood furniture and lovely fittings. Room managed to be both spacious and cosy with a nice little rooftop terrace to enjoy the sunset. Comfy candlelit bar. Lovely hot shower and a bathtub with good products. Really sweet staff and great service we felt very well looked after and dietary requirements were met without issue. Looking forward to returning soon.
Everything was great from the moment we arrived. Very relaxing feel to the whole place. The room and bathroom were very clean and towels VERY fluffy! Had the Sunday Roast followed by a lovely desert the evening we stayed. The next morning breakfast was just as expected very tasty and fresh with a good selection. We will definitely be back as it's not too far from Glasgow for a few nights. Have been recommending to friends ;)
A lovely old house in a beautiful secluded rural location. A cooked breakfast was available for a £10 per person fee but we didn't request it. Heating and cooking facilities were provided by an Aga. The owner Katherine was contactable by mobile when needed. A tray of fresh scones with cream and jam, together with tea was provided free of charge on our arrival, which was a very nice welcoming gesture. The owners live next door but to all intents and purposes you could be alone in your own little piece of rural heaven.
The greeting tray with scones & jam, a very nice welcome, thank you. The Aga was our first experience of one, very impressed and kept the cottage warm, on occasions a bit too warm but it did dry out our kit when we got soaked. The location was very good for us, an ideal spot. Its quirkiness, cosy and the wildlife (bats and the birds etc). The window in the living room was perfect to watch the comings and goings of the nesting birds, the dogs loved being nosey from here.
This place is magical, didn't want to leave. Susan is an absolute wonder woman. The river, the wildlife, the garden, the old mill, the peace, it's all very special.
Breakfast from bar dining area looking up the valley....gorgeous view over a first class breakfast, especially the fresh fruit, yoghurt and home made rolls.
Great evening walk from the Crown up the hill on quiet road with stunning views west across the valley to the Pennines and up to Allendale......plenty of birds and wildlife....Hares,.Curlew and Lapwing amongst others.
Beautiful and peaceful location. Everything you could think of needing was there. Lovely hot shower! Very comfortable bed. My children loved the play area and rope swing.
Comfortable room good hot shower. Plentiful breakfast. Good WiFi connection. Parking was handy, used station carpark 150 yarda away Paid on app £2.40 for 24 hrs
