Located in New York and with Flatiron Building reachable within 800 metres, The Hotel Chelsea provides concierge services, allergy-free rooms, a fitness centre, free WiFi and a restaurant. The Chelsea has a lot to live up to, considering its reputation over the past 50 or so years, not to mention the 90 before that, and it pretty much met or even exceeded expectations. They're doing a great job with the ongoing restoration and the rooms are comfortable but retain the feel of a grand old hotel. Service is helpful and friendly, views from the front rooms excellent (but the roof isn't accessible while they complete work on a top floor or roof-top gym), and the solarium at the back of the bar delightful (but expensive). Great location and a very real New York experience.

The quality of the pillows, mattress & bed linens was superb, the bathroom fixtures, the bathrobes, Nespresso coffee, everything was top notch. I wish I could have stayed longer

Nobody expects a US hotel to be (a) really good or (b) reasonable value. This hotel is both those things and more. Really friendly staff, efficient but relaxed, exceptionally tidy and clean. Safe and quiet. Stylish throughout. A gem!
