The space was well organized with bins to store food items and access to fridge space on a nice outdoor veranda overlooking plush trees and a spectacular view of the ocean. It’s located a bit off the beaten routes, which makes it perfect to explore the wilder part of the island while still being close to major attractions like the volcano national park. we’ve got the garden room, which is a gorgeous private space obtained from a side patio of the house. it’s fully covered and protected by nets from insects but at same time you get the feeling of sleeping in the beautiful tropical garden (including night birds and all kinda sounds!). Comfortable bed, great kitchen area and bathroom. Friendly host provided many useful recommendations on local attractions as well as a delicious homemade breakfast for a very reasonable fee.

This 3-star bed and breakfast offers private entrance. Finding Hale Hualalai for our last two days on the big island was a stroke of luck. The facility is tucked away off a mountain road surrounded by coffee plantations and endowed with a panoramic view. It was a distinct pleasure to have conversations with Ricky, who is an excellent host and cook. We particularly enjoyed eating his delicious breakfasts while gazing out at the beautiful view and watching the hilarious antics of the geckos. Ricky is also a great source of information about the island and Hawaii in general. The location is great for coffee tasting. (Be careful about getting over caffeinated and driving on the winding mountain roads!). We initially chose to stay at Hale Hualalai because of proximity to the airport, which is only 15 minutes away by car.
