Get out on the water (without ever leaving the dock!) on a commercial boat. Guests have access to a partial or entire boat, yacht, or houseboat, which will remain docked throughout the stay. Meals and additional services might be available – a nautical getaway awaits.
We love Graduate Hotels because of their dedication to the history of the towns where located. This building is decorated as an homage to the University with a great interior, but the building is colorless and modern on its exterior. It is the center of activity having 2 weddings during our 3 day visit. It is right on the River Cam which is were all the tourist boats go "Punting" by. One mile out of town is the village of Grantchester. Now that is what you want to see when visiting this area rather than this concrete facade.
The boat was really lovely and facilities were great considering it is a boat. The host was attentive and ensured we were comfortable maneuvering the boat before sending us on our way. And provided lots of guidance on the water ways and local destinations.
We had room 6 which was a family room, even though we booked a double. It was massive with a bath too! Breakfast was excellent and The Ashley is in a great location for the river and boathouses.
The location was perfect - steps away from Queens' College, where i needed to be, next to the Scudamore's Boatyard Punting Station, where you can hire punt or do shared punt tour, and very close the city center.
The hotel has a wonderful garden facing the river.
I've booked a standard king room - cosy and well decorated. Nespreso machine in the room.
Breakfast was delicious and varied.
Beautiful decor with attention to detail. Exceptional location, we sat and had a drink by the riverside watching the punting boats. Lovely. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast good. Pool facilities nice.
The location was perfect for exploring Cambridge University and punting on the river. I liked the balcony view from my cozy room. The parking was also convenient. The lobby was very creative with punting boats and DNA models, and it was a nice touch to give us key cards named after famous Cambridge scholars.
