We had such an amazing time at Hennie’s Rest, we flew into Kruger Mpumalanga Airport and it was an easy drive to get to Malelane and Hennie’s rest from there! We arrived to a warm welcome from Cornelia who gave us advice on the best game drives in Kruger park and where to pick up a good pair of binoculars so we had the best experience! We went on a sunset drive the day we arrived thanks to Cornelia’s knowledge of the Malelane gate which is a very convenient 10 minute drive away.
When we weren’t heading into the park we had an amazing time looking out over the crocodile river and spotting a large variety of wildlife from elephants, crocodiles and kudu to king fishers, geckos and guinea fowl. Throughout the day we were entertained by the animals, even when braaing in the dark we had some hippos join us.
Cornelia is an excellent host with excellent knowledge of the local area and the ins and outs of visiting South Africa as a tourist. We would have been in quite a pickle if we hadn’t read Cornelia’s info on car rentals and ensuring we had a document saying we could take it into Eswatini - thankfully we were able to go to the local branch and get that sorted before arriving at the border! I was especially thankful for the homey addition of hot water bottles for the slightly chillier evenings.

great location on the boundary of the Kruger national Park with a lot of animals coming to drink from the crocodile river, the pool and deck are nice, safe parking. clean rooms.
It is quiet place to stay and met our needs for a simple overnight stay. The common area patio/restaurant area is nice to sit and overlook the somewhat empty river. The whole property is fenced and gated and parking is within, so nice and secure. You are given a remote during your stay to open and close the gate upon entry and exit.
Great location. It's quiet, easily accessible from the N4 highway and super close to the main shops in Malalane as well as the Malalane Gate into the Kruger National Park.
An amazing place in a great location for visiting Kruger. The room was huge with both a bath and shower, a private outdoor terrace overlooking the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park and a swimming pool. Breakfast was delicious and we ate with a view over the river. The honesty bar and extra tea and coffee making facilities were a lovely touch, along with robes in the room and a spacious fridge. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. We only stayed one night but we will definitely be back.

We were very friendly met at our arrival. The location and view at the river were excellent. Our room spacious, wonderful bathroom with enormous shower! We enjoyed the peacefulness of our private little balcony after a hot day in Kruger.
