The hotel was very clean and well decorated. The staff was very kind and attentive. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the room itself was very nice. I wish we stayed longer! The hotel is very close to Cal Poly, and a very easy drive or cheap Lyft ride into downtown or beyond. They offer bikes for you to use (included in a flat rate of $16 that you can opt to pay when you check in that gets you parking on-site, morning coffee and pastries delivered to your room, use of the bikes, wifi, and use of an off-site gym). The morning coffee and pastries was a nice touch. There doesn't seem to be any place to eat or drink on the hotel premises, but this area of SLO has countless restaurants and a few breweries/cocktail bars within a few steps of the lobby so it is no issue.

For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
We took a room with two queen beds and they were very comfortable. The suite was spacious and there was a fridge in there too.

Near enough to town to walk if you like walking, or easy to drive down the road.
Owner gave us an excellent breakfast recommendation too.
Location great right of Hwy 101 off-ramp. Convenient to nearby downtown area. Comfy, clean and quiet accommodations. Charming location, full of character, from the wine tasting room to the lobby of the hotel to the old Apple Mill. Superb gift shop and outstanding adjacent breakfast restaurant. Highly recommend!
The best things about this place are : the price and the location. It's definitely cheap so I'd say it met my expectations in terms of quality. It's an old and charming place not far from the historic center of SLO.
There are cooking facilities, shared bathrooms, and the place is rather clean although a bit rundown. Nice homemade pancakes for breakfast
The Garden Street Inn is a gorgeous quaint property with lovely staff, very comfortable, very clean and quiet in San Luis Obispo. Would definitely recommend, so different from staying in a chain hotel. Beautiful.
