Hale Leilani - Hilo 3BR cold AC, hotel in Hilo

Hale Leilani - Hilo 3BR cold AC is located in Hilo, within 0.7 mi of University of Hawaii, Hilo and 1.6 mi of The Pacific Tsunami Museum.

We were pleasantly surprised upon walking inside. Everything is clean! The kitchen provided everything needed to cook our meals: sharp knives, wine screws, coffee maker with filters and raw sugar that we like and a Keurig, VITAMIX but we didn’t use. Bedding very clean and comfy. Lots of windows for great airflow. Separate AC in each bedroom. Kind of noisy but turn on early to cool the room, turn off when desired temp then use the ceiling fan overnight…perfect. Washer/dryer…perfect. Outdoor propane grill used for steaks…perfect. Large front and back yards. A tree in front yard with beautifully scented flowers. Location is great with just 5 minutes from airport. Close to Target, Safeway, Walmart. Recommend a visit to Pineapple restaurant and 2 Ladies Kitchen for awesome mochi.

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls, hotel in Hilo

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls sits among 22 lush, natural acres, surrounding Hawaii's largest privately accessible waterfall. Free WiFi is available as well as a guest computers.

Most of the things we liked, you can get elsewhere better & cheaper. For waterfalls, just go to "Rainbow Falls", "Wai'ale Falls", "Boiling Pots" which are in the same area and free. Akaka falls are also not too far away and seem much more impressive. Alright, what we liked: The breakfast terrace with the view of the waterfall. Kayaking & swimming below the waterfall. The rainforest sounds at night (can be heard all across the island though). Breakfast was decent but not exceptional. One of the breakfast staff seemed friendly.

Ocean Breeze Inn, hotel in Hilo

Located in Keaau, 12 miles from Lava Tree State Monument, Ocean Breeze Inn provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and barbecue facilities.

Great residential neighborhood location, walking distance to Makuu Point, close to the two of our different friends that also live in the HPP community, and midway between Hilo and our final destination, Pahoa. Easy parking, very clean, and we could even see the ocean from our balcony, albeit between a couple of homes across the way. Very good eating reasonably close at Kaleo’s Bar & Grill. Finally, the price is reasonable!

The koi pond was nice and lobby lovely and spacious. The staff allowed me to take a private hula lesson there and everyone loved it. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. Although right next to the airport it was quiet after 10:00. My granddaughter loved the pool and it was nice to have a washer and dryer available

We can highly recommend the Orchid Tree B&B. It has a great location, close to the city center and the airport. The rooms are tastefully decorated and cozy. The exceptionally friendly landlord is always available to provide helpful tips on dining and sightseeing. The garden is a well-maintained tropical paradise, and breakfast on the terrace is simply heavenly. Everything is wonderful and invites you to stay longer. Definitely worth a visit! Spacious, quiet, and well-appointed room in back of large house. Beautiful huge backyard with jackfruit tree and the Wailuku River about 100 m at the end of the lot. Parking on the premises. Breakfast on the lanai (porch) with other guests was excellent: fresh fruit, homemade pastries, yoghurt, and coffee served by gracious hosts (not the owners). The "Boiling Pots" are about a 10 min walk from the B&B and the Rainbow Falls a short drive away. (We walked, but it was dangerous because of lack of sidewalks part of the way.)

Private room was comfortable and with a well-equipped kitchen, clean bathroom and living area. Aside from the chirping of the coqui frogs at night, which I don't mind, it was quiet, no loud sounds and minimal traffic noise. The landscaping around the property gave a nice rural, country-like feel, very pleasant and lush.
