I have no word to describe the kindness of Hassan to welcome in his garden. Everything is curated and comfortable. Restaurant is delicious and the atmosphere in the garden under the stars is simply amazing. This place is a must if in Mafia.
The room is also comfortable, mosquitoes free and clean. Hassan also organize and suggest great tours with selected guides. You can completely rely on him and his staff

The staff was amazing, very hospitable and took care of everything.
Breakfast and dinner was great, they have a really great chef and attentive personnel.
They also rented us bikes for free, such that we could drive to the dive shop (~10 minutes by bike).

So arrived only to find there is no room for us.
This has never accured to me in all my travels around the globe !!!

For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
Amazing stay at Butiama Marine camp. For those visiting Mafia, would 100% recommend. Its location right on the beach is unmatched, excellent breakfasts and dinners, and fantastic staff.
If you’re looking to dive, would recommend Mafia Island diving. Staff were much friendlier than those at Big Blu (dive shop at marine camp).
This place is run by cosmopolitan Vincent and the lovely Hiltrud (amazing chef by the way)
They are very helpful, interested, funny and will cater to your every need.
With mangrove in the front and pristine private white beach just 2 minutes walk this place is a perfect hideaway for those who like it quiet.
Btw. Vincent's desserts are the best!
Butiama Marine Camp is the perfect place to stay in Utende. There are so many activities, Meals are amazing, and the Beach is very walkable and quiet. Would absolutely recommend to all. While it can be a bit pricey with Marine Park fees, it is absolutely worth the convenience and comfort.
If you are here for diving then this is the place to stay. It's right on the water and so quick to be out on the dive sites. The camp is large however it was very quiet during my stay. Very friendly staff and nice food in an amazing setting. The diving equipment was all in good condition and felt very safe with all the dive masters.
The facilities and the staff are great. We had a half board reservation and I must say the food was the best we had in Tanzania. The place is quiet, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Since the hotel is about 15 mins walk from the beach they provide free transfer. We had an amazing experience that was unmatched in Tanzania for a very reasonable price.

Very comfortable, spacious, clean and also surprisingly quiet and fresh tents. We slept very well. The staff was excellent. The location is great for diving and snorkeling trips, for organising excursions to the nearby islands and sights and for walking to local beach restaurants and exploring the area. Breakfast was very nice. The diving center had great instructors with respect for and awareness of the natural environment, small groups and beautiful wooden boats taking you to the sites. Great experience both for accommodation and diving.
