Quaint villa with wonderful staff and dog (Perro). Stefano and his staff were warm and very welcoming. Rooms are spacious and comfortable (beds a bit on firm side). Bathrooms clean and functional. AC and fan worked great. Location is ok. Road to Villa is unpaved and a bit rough. Takes ~ 10 min to walk to Royal Beach/My Blue resort (which is much better than Nungwi town beach). From there, you can walk south (depending on the tide) to Kendwa beach in ~25-30 min where you can rent lounge chairs/access to resort pools for a reasonable price ($8 USD per day).

Absolutely beautiful small hotel in Kendwa!
- brand new hotel so everything is still very new and fresh
- beautiful and clean pool
- clean and spacious room with plenty of plugs and a ceiling fan (no AC)
- amazing vegetarian breakfast (you have to try the avocado toast!) and great coffee! You get a fresh fruit platter and juice every morning and you can choose other dishes from their menu
- located 7 mins from the beach. The walk is safe, also at night but the street is a little uneven so I suggest wearing sneakers or good sandals, not flip flops for example. And bring a torch or your phone to have some light at night
- cosy bar with great drinks
- for dinner, the nearby restaurant La Fontana is definitely worth a visit
- there is a small shop where you can buy drinks and water across the street from the hotel
But the best of the stay were the amazing hosts Elisabeth and Alex, they were so helpful and accommodating!

Raha House is a locally owned guesthouse that sits by the main road in Nungwi. It’s newly renovated with very clean rooms and a nice terrace where you can enjoy a refreshing sea breeze all day long, even though it’s very hot outside. It’s run by an amazing group of people that make you feel like home. I extended my stay by a few days, it was so hard to say goodbye. The place is not by the beach, but you can get there in a few minutes if you know the shortcut; ask at the front desk and they will show you the way. The breakfast is huge and consists of a variety of things: fruit, bread, creeps, eggs prepared in the way you like best. There’s also a nice local restaurant across the street and some street food stands that operate all night long in case you need a midnight snack (try their rojo and fresh juice, they’re fantastic).
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
