Just finished up from a 2 night stay at Urogano Virunga Palace and can’t say enough about the hospitality and how welcome we felt. Rooms were spotless and tidy, internet was good, bathrooms were clean and water warm, but the best part was by far the atmosphere. While in Rwanda we had some of the usual excursions and stops, but it was nice to have some downtime and playing cards while watching the birds in the garden amongst the beautiful tropical plants, or in front of the warm fireplace with cold beer were incredibly pleasant moments to enjoy a vacation. The staff were wonderful and always available to assist. Meals were home cooked in the kitchen on site on request and were delicious and accommodating from allergies to mealtimes. Laundry is also available - after hiking in the hills we honestly couldn’t believe how clean our shoes came out. Definitely somewhere I would recommend!

The food was very good, basic meals but very plentiful. A big plate of fresh fruit for breakfast along with eggs and bread. They made potatoes for me at my request. Served out on a table by the gorgeous view. It was wonderful.

Everything ! We stayed here for a total of 20 nights (spread out over a few weeks) and kept coming back to this place for several reasons:
- Room and bathroom were very clean, spacious, decorated with style. Matrass is comfy. We felt "at home". Common areas and bathroom are cleaned every day and room on request or every 2 to 3 days. WiFi is really good and hot water as well.
- Location is well situated with Dian Fossey museum at +-20' by car/motorbike and on the way to the Volcanoes National Park. We didn't have any car, but other guests did, and they could easily park inside the gate. For lunch, easy access to Migano (26' walk) or Crema (15' walk), or you can ask staff to order for you 😉 For diner, we often had diner at Masha Haven itself (good food, we especially liked the local food!)
- But what we appreciated most was the staff, especially Sandra and the manager, Masha, himself. Thank you for the many Uno games ;-) Tip - if you would like some personal drawing / painting from the manager (he is an artist!), ask him well in advance and you'll get a personal souvenir from Rwanda !
For travelers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms might be shared by other guests, and there's usually shared space with the host.
The big rooms and bathrooms, the view on the vocanos, the excellent breakfast, the superbe garden, the nice waiters, the places to sit in the garden, the closeness to the volcano Park,
Very nice place and good value for money. The host was very affable and helpful, and recommended a nice restaurant. The property was in a pleasant garden and quiet. Convenient for the town and going to the nature reserves.
It’s a really great location, the park entrance for gorilla trekking is about 20 minutes away. You’re in the town but you don’t feel that when you stay here because it’s a really quiet place in nature.
Breakfast is really nice, the rooms are clean and spacious, the beds comfortable. Dinner was really nice as well, sitting either in the garden or at the fire place.
This place had it all: attentive and friendly staff, comfortable and spacious rooms, quiet and peaceful surroundings, an excellent restaurant with delicious food served stylishly, a careful selections of handicrafts from local projects, and a non-profit model to support local communities. This is a must-stop on a trip through Rwanda.
Ideally located for the National Park, the very private huts are located in a beautiful lush garden. the staff were super friendly and the breakfast was hugely filling and very delicious
The breakfast was stunning ! Fresh fruits, excellent omelet and chapatis! The service was great and the staff very friendly and always available! Nepo (the manager) is absolutely incredible and made sure all was perfect, the garden is so lush and beautiful, this is exactly what we wanted: to be immersed in nature and be able to rest. Can’t wait to go back!
