Everything. Awatea is gorgeous and Kevin is the consummate host. He shared fascinating local history and great travel tips, and we enjoyed an absolutely spectacular breakfast (we feasted like royalty).
The property is beautiful, our room was immaculate, spacious, ultra comfortable and the complimentary lavender toiletries (from the local lavender farm) are divine.

The location and view were spectacular. The seal colony was a short drive up the highway and the centre a short walk. Our hosts were hospitable and engaging, volunteering local knowledge to help make our trip more fulfilling.

Great location opposite the beach. Our room was very clean and comfortable for our 2-night stay. The bathroom appeared to be renovated recently. Our hosts, Luke and Kylie, were very welcoming and helpful. The included continental breakfast was fresh and perfectly suitable for us as we are not big breakfast eaters. Our room, which was located facing the road, was very quiet. I'm not sure if the room at the back of the property would be a better option during busy times.

Room was huge! Bed was also huge and very comfortable. Room was warm, electric blankets and wall heater. Bathroom large, hot water and good water pressure from shower.
The shared spaces were also very big. Everything we needed in the kitchen - all utensils, crockery etc. A few sofas, lots of dining room space, TV, and books and games available plus the table tennis.
Balcony wrapped around the building and had a great view of surrounding area.
Easy to get to Kaikoura town if you have a car. Plus we were the only people there which was awesome!

Beautiful barn style guest suite! From the bed you have views of the mountains, the sea, the cows and the sunrise 😊 Indigo and Bonnie were both very friendly and showed us around, room was nicely kitted out! Property is very quiet and serene and not too far from city centre.

Didn't even feel like a motel as there were so few units, more like a private apartment with a handy kitchenette! Charming courtyard, quiet, tasteful decor and fixtures, and steps from the beach. I only wished I was staying longer at this wonderful spot.
