The apartment is a beautifully renovated old house, with modern furnishings for conform but with old original style all around. Everything was very clean and in good working order. The kitchenette is small, but it has a nice induction stovetop and a combi (induction+grill+microwave) oven to cook there if you want. There is coffee and tea and a small fridge filled with soft drinks and some beers from a local brewery. They even let you try one of the beers for free, which I think is a nice touch. The beds were nice and comfortable, even for tall and heavy people. The sofa and the rest of the furniture in the living/dining room area were also comfortable and adequate for 4 people.
it was a a bit confusing to find the door, since there is no door number and no picture of the door in Booking, but then you can deduce it because it's the only door between two stores. The check-in was very easy; you call a number and they explain everything and give you a code for a lockbox next to the door where the key is stored.
The area is the best you can find. It's located on a pedestrian street, right in the center of the beautiful city of Dokkum. There are a lot of pubs and restaurants right next door and most of the sights of the city are a few minutes walking.
If you come by car, there is free parking with chargers for electric cars (De Helling) about 5 minutes away; very convenient if you come by car.
I would totally recommend this apartment for a family with 1-2 children. With good weather, you can rent some bikes and sightsee around, visit some museums (most have activities for children) or rent a boat or a canoe and go around the city canals.

check-in was ok. Our room was not located in the hotel but a few houses next to it. This was very quiet, with a little garden, very quiet with view over the water.
The host provided good information about the city and he/she replied to my messages very quickly. The accommodation is very cozy, quiet, and wonderful. I recommended it to everyone!
Great location in the centre of this quiet, cosy northern town. Parking nearly in front. Nice room, good beds, good bathroom, friendly staff. No airco but window open at night was no problem, no traffic. Excellent Thai food at 100 m, and several bars in 2 minutes walk.
Quaint, quiet hotel in an excellent location by a scenic canal near the town centre. Plenty of parking spaces. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fine, but we had to ask for milk for the cereal + tea, as there was none out. Not a problem, as we were given some immediately. The Frisian cinnamon-sugar bread in the breakfast selection was really delicious with our tea / coffee.
Excellent breakfast which varied each day. Situation ideal overlooking the canal and quiet in the evening.
