VIRTA Guesthouse, hotel in Sepilok

Offering a garden, VIRTA Guesthouse provides accommodations in Sandakan. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

For us, the location was great - it’s right by the airport, and not too far from the rainforest discover center/orangutan rehab center. The house has everything: water and dryer, blender, countertop oven, filtered water, etc. Communication was friendly and helpful (our flight arrived at 12:30pm and we could check in early). We had a nice quiet morning coffee and chat in the garden/patio area out back, too.

All the workers are very friendly. There are many services such as free shuttle, tour information, cheap laundry, and breakfast. Nature-friendly, so you can see many other small animals around this place. Very close to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. It only takes about 10 minutes by cars. You can see beautiful stars every night. It was such a joy!

Great location close to the sanctuaries. The environment in the resort is amazing, you can have a walk around and feel like in the jungle and take a rest around the pool. You can go bird watching or join a night walk, the staff is really friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very nice too. I totally recommend it.

We stayed in a little house opposite the hotel restaurant, which was extremely comfortable and clean. We particularly enjoyed the aircon and the nice quality furniture. The private bathroom was also clean and pleasant.

Beautiful quiet setting in the jungle! Loved the firm beds and outdoor bathroom - showering overlooking the jungle! Good air-conditioning in private rooms. Staff were friendly. Dinner food was great and able to cater for vegan diet. Shuttle bus to attractions was very helpful. Really nice accommodation, didn't feel too 'touristy'.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in, feel like it is a must stay for every traveller. You stay in wooden lodges so be prepared to find a few critters around your room but mosquito nets are provided. Bathroom is semi-outside so has a great view onto the jungle but still feels private at the same time. staff were absolutely fantastic, very very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and cheap. Free shuttle service into sepilok.

Great location if you want to visit the orangutan rehab centre & sun bears. We had a private family room and it was spacious and comfortable. The AC worked well. Free breakfast included. Not your usual breakfast items but it's Malaysia so you'll get that anywhere.
