The Gammaduwa Bungalow, nestled in the serene hills, offers a magical retreat amidst lush tea gardens. I drove a tuk-tuk, and while the climb was steep, the destination was truly worth it. I took a wrong turn along the way and got slightly lost, but that’s the best thing that can happen to you in Sri Lanka. 🙂

Well get there by accident because of car trouble.
It was great. Best food i had in hotels in sri lanka. They make for you especially. We had rice and curry for dinner was amazing. And breakfast was western with salad like we asked. They have an organic farm so everything was super fresh and tasty. My parents even got some pork sausages from their pig farm. The rooms were spacious and verry hot water in the shower. The pool is great with amazing views the staff is very nice and cater to your every need. Highly recomended.

Guesthouse is incredibly clean and well-maintained. We truly enjoyed the delicious breakfast they provided, especially the fresh fruits, Sri lankan meals, and the fresh juices.

Superb place, and the best homestay we stayed at. The hosts were very humble and kind. The place was only 1 km away from the bus stand, however, was very calm and peaceful. Irene’s Home is an absolute gem! A gorgeous Walauwwa/heritage house nestled in the heart of Matale, with mountains as a backdrop.
We were there for just an overnight stay, and I loved every moment.
A beautifully maintained property, with a charming couple as caretakers - that lady can cook! We had a typical Sri Lankan breakfast, and her dhal curry was a visual feast - and the flavours matched the visual expectations.
I would definitely revisit, if I’m ever back in Matale!

We had a wonderfully quiet and relaxing stay here, with our standout experience being the fantastic cooking class we took with the owner’s wife whose recipes we’ll cherish for a long time. Lovely to get some clean air, kick back in an old tea plantation house and enjoy the views and nature.
Ended up cancelling on the spot- the host keeps no outside lights on, because he is supposed to be closed and he fears the neighbors finding out that he is quietly accepting guests on booking.com. A very creepy place and a real jerk of a host.
I highly recommend staying at this charming remote house in Sri Lanka. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it offers a tranquil escape surrounded by stunning gardens. The host goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay, even saving the day by organizing scooter rentals for us. Stunning view, quiet, next to nature but not far from city centre. Everything is completely new, room is spacious. Family was extremely friendly and we talked a lot about agriculture, government and other Sri Lankan problems.
